Yes, you can use the USB cable to charge the battery. But you need to insert the cable into the computer USB port, no the USB HUB, and the computer is on, not in sleep mode.

Does my usb cable charge the battery on my dmc-fx01 as well as transferring the pictures to me p.c.

Yes, it should. That typically is the only way you can transfer from a source that stores pics to another. Same with cell phones. When you transfer pics through usb the USB will charge the phone and transfer pics. Just be sure that when you plug in USB to device that the battery is showing charge.

My camcorder won't charge, should I just replace the batteries or is it rechargeable because I found a USB cable, is it for charging? Or for transferring videos to a computer or laptop?

The USB cable is not for charging, only for transferring. If you want to use rechargeable batteries then you must recharge them using a separate battery charger.

You CANNOT charge a camera through a USB port there just is not enough power! you need to get an original wall charger and power up from that. Even the USB cable/wall charger will NEVER charge it up sufficiently.
The USB cable is for data transfer only.

Can i charge an Olympus fe-4000 with a usb cable connected to my computer?

No. The camera does not incorporate any charging circuitry. You have to use the supplied battery charger to charge the battery. The USB cable is strictly for transferring pictures and videos to the computer.

LG Secret charging

Dr Know, doesn't know what he's talking about. I have a LG KF750 and have experienced the same problem.

Solution - Really jam the cable into the socket! The connection is pretty rubbish. The phone charging icon will (with some force and wiggling) appear on screen. Then carefully put it down and don't touch it!

USB charges very slowly, if charging from a dead flat battery it may take a good 20mins of charging to boot up.

P.S. the red camera light is not supposed to come on when charging. Keep wiggling the cable and the light will go off when the phone charging icon appears.
