Question about Ricoh Aficio Sg 3110Dn - Printer - Color - Ink-Jet
After successfully printing, I changed the paper size and the next print came up as "filter failed" and will not print. I can print on a different printer, but not this one. I rebooted computer, and my desktop pic had changed to a pic that was on my desktop. Did a hard reset on the printer and rebooted again. Still getting the filter failed message.

What error? Does it say paper jam and a number?
Have you tried cleaning the rollers that pick up the paper? Use a cotton cloth with a little bit of WD40. Then a dry cloth to remove residue oil. Do not use alcohol. It will dry out the roller and make it slick.

Try on a different computer. Maybe you have pretty old one that have old USB hub on a mainboard. Also try to download the latest drivers from original website that have a lot more stuff than included in Windows drivers.

Is it only the 'red' light or is there another one also lit?
If it is on steadily, it should be related to a paper jam, if blinking, then related to Data in, and no paper.
Manual is here to check what the status lights mean (copy this link into your address bar):
** info is on page 6.21

A 440-1 is a black drum motor lock. The waste toner in the black pcu is backed up, more then likley. It is not easy to fix. You could replace the black pcu but it will happen again. The usual problem is oil in the main waste toner system. It clumps up the toner and clogs the part where all the waste toner comes together for entry into the waste toner bottle.

You need to enter service mode, (this really should be done by a ricoh tech) Turn off printer press and hold down online and escape and turn printer on, the panel should sho a 1 2 3, push 2 for engine and enter press 7 and enter 804 is the counters for supplies. #4 is the fuser press enter after the printer says execute. Back out with escape and 3 to exit, cycle power. -Carl
