Mitsubishi WD-73742 Projector DLP Television. How do I clean the mirror on a WD73742?

To clean the mirror on a Mitsubishi WD-73742 DLP television, follow these steps:
  1. Power off the television and unplug it from the power source to avoid any electric shock.
  2. Remove the back panel of the television to access the internal components. Use a screwdriver to carefully remove the screws holding the panel in place.
  3. Locate the mirror inside the television. It is a large, reflective surface near the light engine or DLP chip.
  4. Use a soft, lint-free cloth such as a microfiber cloth to gently wipe the mirror. Do not use any cleaning solutions or chemicals as they can damage the mirror.
  5. If there are stubborn stains or dirt on the mirror, you can dampen the cloth slightly with distilled water and gently wipe the mirror in a circular motion.
  6. Once the mirror is clean, allow it to air dry before reassembling the television.
  7. Carefully replace the back panel of the television and secure it with the screws.
  8. Plug the television back in and power it on to ensure the mirror is clean and the image quality is not affected.

I have a hitachi 55vf820 lcd rear projection tv. How do you get the cover off to clean mirror?

Don't try that as the mirror almost never needs cleaning and MUST be cleaned with a special cleaner---leave a single fingerprint on that mirror (or a smudge) and it will stand out in the picture like a sore thumb.

Reason to clean mirror?

I can't find any documentation on how to remove the primary mirror for cleaning. I'm a newb and don't want to mess anything up. Thanks, Bob

First -- how do you know the mirror needs cleaning? Did you shine a flaslight down the tube and see some dust? Never use a flashlight to determine if a mirror is dirty-- they are ALL dirty when you use a flashlight to check them.

Only clean the mirror if it is interferring with the views through the scope.

There is a ring around the back-- remove those screws and the mirror should come out-- don't driop it! Then remove the mirror from the mirror cell.

Mirror cleaning

Never touch the mirror! If there's something on it, take it to an expert. Why do you need to clean the mirror anyway? It's out of the way during a shot on a DSLR...that is what you have...isn't it? You didn't say.

Pentax ME super dirty mirror

Don't even think about cleaning the mirror in your SLR. For smudges and marks that can't be blown away with a handheld blower, you really need to have it cleaned by a repair shop. Most technicians clean mirrors with a special viscous fluid specially formulated to protect the fragile surface of the mirrors. Definitely do not attempt it with a standard lens cleaning solution or cloth as you could cause irreparable damage.

Keep in mind that this will not require disassembly of the camera, so the charge should be nominal
