Monitor immediately goes to sleep. Tower shuts down from unplugging it.

The tower will start up. Monitor immediately says "monitor going to sleep". Screen goes and stays black tower will not shut down from power button so I have to unplug it. Is this a power supply issue or motherboard issue? A few of the capacitors are dis colored on the motherboard. Hate to buy motherboard and it not work, do not have a multimeter. Hoping by what I described you can pinpoint the issue?

I have a desktop XPS 410, it went into sleep mode but will not wake up. I unplugged all the cords and still nothing. the monitor states its in sleep save. how do i get it to wake up?

you may have a computer issue, you may have a monitor issue.
If the computer is powering on, (Green power led on tower and all 4 diags LEDs flash and then finally go out), then the issue is most likely the Monitor. From your description, I'd say monitor, try a different one or try this monitor on another system.
If you have diagnostic LED indications on the tower then this information may help

Monitor going to sleep problem

  • Hi, The Monitor as well the Computer have "Power Saving Modes," [Sleep, ScreenSavers, and Hibernation]; so what you want to do is "Change the way the Computer / Monitor Sleeps!" From the Desktop Screen, click on the "Start Button," next in the [Start Search Window], type: power. In the next [window] that opens, you should see, from your point of view; a "list" in the (left column) "Change when the computer sleep, the wording may be different, but it will be clear enough. Now all you have to do is change the way the Computer and Monitor "Sleep, or Turn-off." If the Monitor have its own "settings;" just find them by the [button on the monitor], and do the same thing as above; but I'm sure the computer will take care of both. If this solution to the problem was of help? Let me know by giving a "Helpful Rating", thanks, and have a "Great Memorial Day!"

My monitor has kicked into sleep mode and won't "wake up".

Unplug all the Cables from Compaq Presario 5103 CL and leave the Keyboard, mouse and monitor cable pluged in.

Now make sure the power cable of the monitor should be pluged in and the power cable of the tower should be pluged in.

Now to check if the montor is fine just unplug the video cable only which will show no input signal on the screen. If it shows this signal the monitor is fine. Plug back in the video cable.

If the monitor is going to sleep mode it might be possible that the old computer ( Compaq Presario 5103 CL ) is in stand by mode. hit any key on the keyboard and it should come back .

If it is not in the stand by mode then do one thing. Check the same monitor with the new computer. If it is working. Perfect ..!

Do one thing now ..!

Unplug all the cables from your old system and then press the power button for 30 sec and let it go. Now plug the keyboard, mouse and the monitor try again.
If it works Perfect. If not ..!

Then you need to open the tower and check on the processor FAN is it running..? If its not running you will not get the display as the fan is responsible for the display on the screen. Otherwise...!

Check the Tower possibly the Tower is not getting the power.

Try these steps and let me know If it works

I have had problems with communication between the tower and the monitor. I recently bought a Dell flat screen monitor. The monitor worked for about two months, now when it is turned on, it immediately...

Sorry it IS the monitor this is a common problem, unfortunately, this is evidenced by the fact it still didn't work when connected to another machine, regardless of lack or message. Do a warranty claim.

My hp2009m monitor goes into sleep mode

Monitors are programmed to go to sleep when there is no input. If you shut it down on the other "tower" also it will do the same. You need to physically hit the power button on the monitor to actually shut it off.

Desktop monitor

Hi

Disconnect the monitor from the tower and then turn on the monitor.
If u get a msg like no input signal or check video cable then the monitor is fine. If this is the case, it could be a problem with the tower or the cable.
