Camera shuts off when shutter button is pressed.

The last couple of times that I used my camera, after taking a couple pics, it would shut off when I pressed the shutter button. All other functions would work (video, menu buttons, etc) I took the batteries out and let it sit for a couple of days. It worked for that day (Prom Pics) but a week later after about 20 pics, it started to turn off again. It also would respond very slowly to the on and off button, Can this be fixed or should I give up on it?

I'd try replacing the battery first. It is common for a low power battery to not allow the camera's computer to read what it is supposed to do correctly. If the new fully charged battery doesn't fix it, I'd then contact customer service.

SOURCE: Err CF

TRy and reformat the CF card through the camera. Youll lose the pics for sure but you cant see them anyway. You can also check for bent pins in the CF slot. Sometimes if you shut down the camera in mid write to the card, itll mess up the cards FAT (file directory)

SOURCE: first a black screen, then a lens error

For the lens error:

For the black pictures (after you've corrected the lens error):

Note, if you're going to try fix 5a on the above blog page, do it with the camera turned off to lessen the chance of damaging the lens.

If the menus come on but there is no video or picture from the lens, that is usually the CCD which is a sensor in the camera that picks up the image. If you need to have it fixed, it's only $79 total for the parts, labor, the servicing for the camera included and even the shipping back. Go to: www.CamerasAndParts.com They just service these Canon Powershots exclusively and they are excellent for service on these. Your exact issue is on their site, it's $79 for everything and they do superb work on these models. I hope that helps, good luck with the problem.

I have a Nikon d3300 that turns off automatically after i take a photo - can you assist

If the screen display is shutting off, that's a normal function. If the camera is entirely shutting off it might be a bad battery or a very weak battery.

Why does my Nikon D60 while on auto focus or quick shutter speed either not focus and take the pic or focus and not take pics?

I have a 5D Mark II that has acted up like this. 99% of the time it will reset itself it you power off, remove the lense and allow them to sync up. Try this, it may work for you too!

How do I set the camera to take a timed photo? So

Press the button with the clock icon. You should be presented with a couple of choices as to how much time you want before the shutter fires. Choose one, frame the pic, and press the shutter button...go get in the picture.

The camera is slow to take a pic when i push the button! Is there a way to make the camera take a pic immediately when i push the button?

I assume you're using a point&shoot camera.

You can get faster response by pressing the shutter button halfway to focus and meter, then press it the rest of the way when the action peaks.

One of the advantages of higher-end cameras is the shorter shutter lag.

Fuji A303 shuts off

Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Walmart sells these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and slap yourself in the head for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.
