Is the screen broken or is it just the digitiser? There are many excellent videos available which take you through the process of replacing all parts of your iPad.
However, it is not something that can be fixed easily and you need to exercise great patience in dismantling your broken iPad and replacing the damaged parts.
Make sure you have plenty of space in which to work and place all the parts of the iPad around your working area so they are easy to reach.
In all warranties, broken screens are excluded. Unless you can prove it is induced by an error made during manufacturing.
Repair of a broken screen is dune by replacing the complete screen and sometimes not only the touch screen must be replaced, the display has to be replaced to.
The best way to go is, visit a phone repair shop, and ask them if it can be done and what it will cost. If it is complicated and it would take more than an hour, the repair could cost more then buying a complete new tablet.
tha't an easy task to handle
See the pictures below
if your whole screen shows an image and the cracks are in front of it then its just a cracked digitiser
if you dont see the whole image and tyou see horizontal and vertical line or an image like spilled liquid then your Lcd is also cracked too
this is a broken Lcd (the screen is distorted by the lines or no picture at all)
this is just a broken digitiser (the screen below the broken glass works fine )
I don't own one, but I'm guessing it has a glass-like layer over an LCD display. The first step would be to figure out if it is the glass that is cracked, which I'm assuming is the case, or if the LCD is what is broken. In either case you will need to find a replacement part. I've had good luck using http://froogle.google.com or eBay to find similar replacement parts. Just search for your devices model number plus screen. After you have the part you need it should be a simple disassemble, replace, reassemble procedure. Hope this helps.
you should take it to the apple store.
If they won't help you, You can try to replace the part yourself, it is
available on any auction website. There is an iPad Repair service that can fix it for you, but if you're a little tech savy you should use an iPad repair guide that teaches you how to do the repair yourself.
The backlight is normall part of the LCD panel assembly and is not normally changeable on its own (sadly) however here is a link to one being solf on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LCD-CCFL-Backlight-Lamp-for-IBM-lenovo-ThinkPad-X60-X61_W0QQitemZ250464679317QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090715?IMSfp=TL090715205001r13604
and here is a link to the X61 LCD dissassembly http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-broken-lcd-screen-lenovo-x60s-laptop/
After removing the LCD you will gently have to prise it apart to reveal the backlight assy. Hope this goes will for you.
I need to do this on mine as well. Ive already taken it apart, just have to find a new lcd. the front cover on the screen is held on by 6 screws, 4 on the bottom under the silver stickers and 2 on the top under the black triangular stickers in the corners. Then the screen itself is held on by 8 little screws on either side (4 on either side). Where did you buy the replacement lcd for it, and do you know the part number?
