you are probably confuse by the Sandisk software. you can uninstall it, but i advice you don't. when you plug it, it will appear in windows explorer window 2 more devices: a removable device and a dvd/cd drive. copy your documents to the removable device.
if the drive is not working and it ask you if you want to format it be aware that you won't be able to use its software. if you have data on the device, make a quick format and after that use get data back (gdb4fat) software to recover it.
first you tranfer the video to you computer then you computer problably have a burn cd and dvd burner, so you can tranfer you video files to a dvd disc.
Only way is Play burned DVD in dvd player and provide Audio- Video out (yellow-red-white) to mini DV camera that has AV Line Input recording facility. Or find any Mini DV recorder and record tape. In that way you can record video again on Mini DV tape.
Hi 8 tapes are analogue and need to be converted to digital before a DVD can be made of them. You can pass the signal through a digital video camera to the computer to convert them. Only very short videos could be copied onto a CD as most video files are much larger than a CD's capacity. I'm not sure about digital 8 but maybe the camera only has an analogue output? If the lead goes to RCA plugs - that is analogue. A firewire socket means a digital output.
put the CD back in the casmcorder, and hook up the camcorder to your tv. put a blank disc in your dvd player and play the small disc through the camcorder on the tv. while the camcorder is playing the recorded stuff, press record on the dvd player and it should burn the stuff onto the blank cd.
