It is looping stitches at the back of the cloth only.
Tighten the upper tension until the bobbin and needle threads meet in the middle of the fabric.
Be sure to raise the presser foot on your machine BEFORE threading your sewing machine. Doing so releases the upper tension disk and allows the thread to seat properly.
Make sure you haven't missed any steps in the threading process or that the machine is correctly threaded.
