Ice buildup high into ice maker ice bin and drawer frozen closed. How do I fix?
The ice could be caused by a partial thaw such as a power failure. To open bin unplug unit. Get lots of towels and a wet Vac if you have one. The use of these will become obvious shortly. Open the door and put a fan blowing on it, the same type of fan we use when it is hot to cool down. Then wait in time it will start thawing. This would also be a good time to clean it inside, you probably were putting that off. When totally thawed and dry start it up and keep an eye on it for a few days it will probably be ok. If not you have a clean unit to try some of the other suggestions.

before i would worry about the lights flashing lets pull the front cover off of the icemaker and verify that the drive gear is not broken.
on the bottom of the icemaker is 1 screw. remove that screw then just slide the entire icemaker out of the refrig so that you can access the front cover. if the gear is broken just replace the front motor module pt# 8201515
if the gear is fine then located in the toe grille of your refrig is a tech sheet that will help you troubleshoot red light blinking.

2 things that could be wrong with these ice makers (Red light is solid, but no water to ice maker and My ice maker does not make ice and water is appearing on the floor). Either you have a defective water valve or your incoming tube is iced up. 2 ways to check:
1. Check your ice maker valve which is at the bottom of the refer. To find follow the water line into the back of the refer. it should connect to the water valve. Check and make sure there is 125V to the valve when it is in fill mode. Or look for and open condition at the solenoid (you check for open with a meter). When checking across the leads you shouldn't get any meter movement at all.
2. Remove the ice maker or the port that comes into the ice maker on the back of the refer (it is usually held in with 2 screws). Make sure it is not frozen up. If it is sometimes if you take regular insulation and pack it into the area where the port comes in that can stop the freezing problem.
Good Luck!
God Bless

SOURCE: Ice maker is making hollow ice cubes, some only half frozen
Most ice makers have an adjustment screw to control the cube size. Its usually hidden behind a plastic panel on the front of the ice maker. A quarter turn either way and some trial and error testing should get you pointed in the right direction to your ideal ice cube.
SOURCE: ice maker makes ice, but also drips water
cbscarter,
This may sound strange but you will find that the mold coating is peeling off of the aluminum mold. This causes the water to wick (climb) the loose coating and up over the top, leaking out making an ice clump on the ice maker and clumps ice in the container together. It would be easy enough for the average person to replace the ice make. Due to its age that would be smarter to replace than to repair the old one. It is a Whirlpool part #4317943 and comes with some instructions.
If this helped please rate me good, supertechks
