I understood your problem there is fault in to your picture tube or it may in supply given to GRID of picture tube because only sound section is working so only sound comes out but not the picture, or also checkout the DEFLECTION IC(both horizontal & vertical deflection IC)
try to check the supply of the heater from the picture tube..check for open resistors..the heater is located at the CRT board it is the board that connected to the picture tube the supply of the heater comes from the plyback...
It sounds like the picture tube is shorting at the blue gun. Most of the time it is not cost effective to replace the tube. Have a repair shop check it out and see if that is the problem. Thanks
most likely will not be the tubes mate, if the tubes go then you just get a big mix of red green and blue colours in the screen - sound but no picture is more likely to be the starter unit on the flat screen.
flat screens have a starter unit - mine went on a samsung but under warrenty
Brother this is problem usually when either the fly-back (picture tube transformer )or tube voltage regulator Transistor is damaged or the picture tube has a short
Unfortunately, this sounds familiar. Many of these sony projections had bad crt's.(picture tubes). Now here is a secret I learned along the way. The short in the picture tubes is in the filament, causing that color to overpower all others and sometimes causing pix to disappear until set is shut off and back on. If you are very careful and use an insulated screwdriver, you can sometimes tap on neck of picture tube and knock debris from filament causing extended tube life. This is dangerous and must be performed with set turned on. From front of set gently tap on neck of tube(s) in question using insulated handle of screwdriver to make contact with picture tube neck. Picture will probably flash whichever color tube is contacted. Eventually, if picture stops flashing that color as much, you can sometimes get several more months out of your set without any problems. Only alternative is to try a crt rejuvinator or replace tubes at a cost of 200.00 each if avail. plus labor. Good luck, Russmann.
