This may be part of your energy saver. The opening around the door will be warm, but not hot to touch, to prevent condensation from forming during humid weather. If you have a switch in the frig marked energy saver, switch it to off, check to see if the frame cools. This feature is automatic in some makes and models and there isn't a control. If no condensation forms when it is switched off, it is not necessary to run the energy saver. Check the owners manual, if one is available, for information on your particular model.

SOURCE: subzero 630 hot door jamb

When the door heaters appear hotter than normal it is generally related to problems elsewhere. Refrigerator and or freezer not cooling. Check your temperatures inside. Clean your condenser(s). Check condenser fan motors to insure that they are operating.

They tried replacing the fan motor but that didn't help. It just burned out in 3 days. Had to wait for a new control board in the fridge.

SOURCE: The door jamb on our Kenmore refrigerator model

The condenser fan underneath the fridge is probably not running. It should be running when the compressor runs. You can place a floor fan back there blowing until you have it replaced.
There is a slight chance you have a defrost system failure causing the coils behind the back cover inside the freezer to ice up blocking air flow. This would also affect the temp in the fridge and freezer though.

Light won't turn off - very hot and heating up

HI. This is the direct result of a failed door switch. This switch controls the actual evaporator fan, as well. This dysfunctional switch must be replaced, asap. This replacement will correct your issues. The switch will generally be loctaed or mounted near the door jamb or recessed near the the door and unit structure intersecting areas or closing points. Once extracted, it can be tested for proper functionality with a ohm/multimeter.

Doors seif locking all the time wont stay unlocked

Get to the bottom of this, the next step is a circuit hot when you do not want it.

Most of these issues happen in the door jamb. Are all of the switches looking non damaged? disconnect the switches one by one to eliminate them.

Move the bundle in the door jamb and see if you can affect the issue. There are no successul repairs in this area, replace at least the entire run throught the jamb, but ideally the whole loom that you have to get to replace the jamb portion.

The jamb between the freezer & frig is very

It is common to be warm to the touch. If it is excessively hot then your door heater may be going out. Have a technician check it out. If this fails the doors will begin to sweat and drip onto the floor. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a Hygena Built in fridge freezer and the freezer is defrosting and the fridge is not coming

hi try this On the refrigerator door jamb, locate a small push-button switch. This component operates the light inside the refrigerator. If the switch is malfunctioning, the light in the unit may stay on, and the heat from the lightbulb can cause cooling trouble in the box.
Step 1: Check the bulb to see if it is burned out. If not, depress the push button on the door switch.
Step 2: If the light stays on, clean the switch with a cloth. Then remove the switch from the jamb. Remove retaining screws hidden by a plastic trim piece, pry the switch out of the jamb with a screwdriver, or pry off the jamb trim to expose the switch. Then test the switch with a VOM set to the RX1 scale

Step 3: Clip one probe of the VOM to each terminal of the switch and press the push button. The meter should read zero. If the needle on the scale moves above zero, replace the switch with a new one of the same type.

Step 4: Connect the new switch the same way the old one was connected.

Subzero 630 hot door jamb

If the door jambs are hot, that is either a dirty condensor or a dead condensor fan motor. Make sure the condensor is vacuumed and check to see if the condensor fan is spinning. It should be running anytime either compressor is on. You can clear the service light by holdint the "alarm: button for 15 seconds or turning the unit off and then on again.
