I have recently purchased a RS 2664 RCA shelf system. I purchased a second set of speakers and wired switches to play either set at a time.
System performed superbly initially, however, after about 30 minutes, the receiver shut down.
It didn't effect my circuit breaker, but merely the reciever. After disconnecting all the add on speakers, it now shuts down minutes after turning it on.
I tried unplugging the system and it responded with the initial introduction on what the system does without turning it on, but subsequently shut down when I did turn it on.
The initial cause of the problem may have resulted from crossed wires at splices, but all of those are now disconnected.
If the wires got crossed and/or touched each other at all - that could certainly damage the amp(s).
Also - if the system is not made for extra speaker - that would change the ohmage - and that could aslo damage the amp(s)..
Or maybe the system designed to protect the amp(s) was damaged..
Hope this helps !!
