Try cleaning the battery terminals inside the camera's battery compartment. If there's corrosion, use a pointed wooden stick (like a large toothpick) to flake it off first. Then moisten a Q-tip with water -- just enough to dampen it, you don't want water dripping inside the camera -- and rub the terminals. If you think there may be some oil or grease on the terminal, do the Q-tip thing with alcohol too. If these approaches fail you'll have to take the camera to a repair shop.

Nikon L830 won't take pictures and won't turn off. Lens just zooms in and out. What can I do to fix this?

remove the battery, to reset at least this state. When you did not drop the camera and there is no blockage on the lens barrel, it should come in the place it must be. Like inside the camera, when you switch it of and out, when you switch the camera on. When the sensor can't sense one of the states, it will "hunt" till the battery is empty. So please carefully check with your eyes, but also with your hand, f you can see or feel anything that blocked the free moving of the lens. When after reinserting the battery, the camera starts acting normal, problem solved, but when you can't find a cause for the zooming of the lens, I think you should contact a certified Nikon repair centre and ask them what a repair will cost you. Perhaps they even have a hit, although not very likely.

My camera is a Coolpix L830 and my pictures are usually yellowish....never with vivid colors..please help

I may be WHITE BALANCE. If it is SET to FLASH and you are inside it may look YELLOW. Go the the MENU and see what the WHITE BALANCE is SET to. If it is AUTO then you MAY have something wrong with the camera. I cannot say it is the camera yet.

Even after putting a new fully charged battery camera shows battery empty

The reason you are still getting this error despite the fact that you've placed a new fully charged battery means that the battery is not compatible with the camera. The fact that it states this is because the battery isn't capable of handling the Olympus camera. I would suggest for you to buy a recommended battery pack by Olympus, or a rechargeable battery pack to avoid these errors.

Need a new charger

Go to ebay.com and search for Samsung Digimax L830 charger. You should be able to buy a new one for around 18$ including shipping.

What type of battery are you using? Do you have the right battery setting?

The camera's battery setting is set to "Coolpix" as the default (the original batteries it came with). If you're using regular alkalines, be sure to change this setting in the camera (Menu > set up > battery type > alkaline).

When the batteries ran out for the first time, I bought cheap dollar store batteries, and when I put them in my camera, it shut off immediately when I tried to turn it on, despite them being brand new. I found out this was because the batteries didn't have enough juice to power my camera. I replaced them with Duracell, and it worked fine after that (Panasonic, another dollar store battery works okay too).

Hope that helps.
