Hmm.. Could be that the motor is a bit stuck on the top of the compression stroke..

With everything turned off - turn the motor over a few time by hand - by turning the blade..
Then try starting it..

OR starter could be a bit stuck - try this.. While the key is turned like you are trying to start it - give the starter a little smack with a small hammer..

Hope this helps !!

Have a 2006 vtx1300c dead nothing works battery is 13 volts

Sounds like a wiring problem. I would start at the switch and go back to the starter checking all connections especially the ones you replaced.

Installed new battery-Turns over & then no start-Alternator?

Normally I don't see this unless there is a dead cell in the battery however, it is possible if there is a grounded Positive wire in the circuit. Check all the wires and the connections on the alternator.

Even with new batteries and they go dead before I take 3 pictures

Yes, there is definitely a fault with your camera.  You should be able to return it for a replacement.  I wouldn't experiment too much with batteries in this camera. batteries discharging this quickly are likely to overheat, causing unmentionable catastrophe.
