The pulsing dial tone usually indicates a message on the service provider's server, not on your phone. Contact your provider to find the procedure to access these messages.

Try opening unit and retrace all solder connections.

Press MENU button and ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press
POINT LEFT/RIGHT buttons to move a red frame pointer to
IMAGE ADJUST Menu icon.
Press POINT DOWN button to move a red frame pointer to the
item that you want to adjust. and then press SELECT button.
The level of each item is displayed. Adjust each level by
pressing POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s).
Move a red frame pointer to
the item to be selected and
then press SELECT button.

Press POINT LEFT button to decrease contrast, and POINT RIGHT
button to increase contrast. (From 0 to 63.)

Press either POINT LEFT button or POINT RIGHT button to obtain
better balance of contrast. (From 0 to 15.)
Gamma
To store manually preset image, move a red frame pointer to
Store icon and press SELECT button. Image Level Menu will
appear. Move a red frame pointer to the Image 1 to 4 where you
want to set and then press SELECT button.

The M6090 Magenta Developer is failing. It has lost it's magnetism. So the toner isn't ready to be transferred.

The Cyan Developer G6593 or Yellow Developer H6682 may be failing too, because it can't dependably hold all it's toner. One of those is probably bad too.

To reset the drum message:
Open the front door
Press and hold down the white button for about 4 seconds. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the button.
Close the front cover. Make sure that the Drum LED is now off.

change your black toner... if it doesn't work.. then change black developer... still doesn't work then change black drum...

Have you checked the half tone print out for the magenta drum. Get into tech rep mode and run half tone with just magenta see if there are any problems. Also tone up machine and run gradation adjustment. But sounds like the drum. One other thing clean the LED rack below the drum

No. Unfortunately you are stuck with the drum kits and standard midi that come with the 2488. I find the tone generator sounds to be pretty good on the 2488 quality-wise at least. Of course having the versatility of swapping in other kits and tones/samples would be nice. I believe Tascam discontinued the tone generator/drum machine on subsequent models of 2488 because it seems that the demand wasn't there.

your drum is going bad. or your light or dark adjustment is set too dark ( it should be in the somewhat in the middle).
