When i try to burn a cd it says no burner found.How do i reinstall the cd burner?

If its on xp and on an ide its should do it automatically. maybe change your jumper settings to cable select and make sure it has power

DVD is reading the data, but its not writing.......when i went for burning the process status is running but not even it complete 1% in 20 minutes.......WHETHER IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM OR HARDWARE? PLEASE...

make sure the burner is getting consistant power check the leads attached make sure it has good secure connections and are dust free

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or
you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark? ! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver

this might be because you have not selected the option to burn an certain type of cd/dvd ie:data ,audio ,iso or your burning software does not support the type of cd/dvd you are trying to burn
there are plenty of free burning software programs on the internet

Slimtype DVD A DS8A1H ATA is not burning

make sure that the dvd rw is getting enough consistent power test all leads that are attached to the cd rom including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this dvd rw then plug them back in this will activate found new hardware wizard or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your dvd burner or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
or you might have to uninstall the burning software then reinstall your burning software

CD BURNER KEEP RUNNING WHEN BURNING IS FINISHED. ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO SWITH OF THE COMPUTER, WITHOUT SHUTTING IT DOWN PROPERLY.

you might have to uninstall the burning software then reinstall it if you have the disc
or

you might have to physically unplug the plug you cd-rw/dvd rom burner then plug it back in this should activate the found new harware wizard or you might try

control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll cd/dvd rom drives right click you can update driver disable or uninstall select properties from there you can troubleshoot or select driver you can update roll back driver uninstall if at any time you see a yellow question mark? you need to install a driver

I have a _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A using Windows XP SP2. When I burn a CD with this drive I have no problems at all. When I try burning a DVD it will never work. I have tried all types of different burning...

you might have to uninstall both the dvd/cd + its drivers then reinstall them actually unplug the cd/dvd from its power cable then restart your computer plug it back in your computer should activate found new hardware or
control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

I'd try uninstall / reinstall.

If i want to burn cd, i get "device can not be found" message, how do i fix that. I have used the burner before so i know it is there

Make sure the cd rom device can burn CDs if it can then reinstall the drive and burning software for the CD ROM

Redone windows xp.... now cant burn dvds

NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A will only read and burn DVD's, not any type of cd

You could try updating the Driver.

C d burner

This suggests the 'Burn' laser[which is different to the play laser]- has failed. Only way is to replace the device.
