Check you smtp server settings in admin settings. Verify there correct. If your smtp server needs your email address and password to send, that should be populated as well under them smtp authentication settings.
SOURCE: can't scan to smb
in smb server, create a folder and give all rights, to that folder, if youre in domain, it may need you to use a password, so create a user and password and give rights that user in folder then go youre printer ip address, and add a contact, choose smb and fill in the fields. if error occurs, then choose details and you see whats wrong

I had the same issue and fixed it by adding the group "Everyone" to the shared folder permissions (where I was sending my scans) and assigning the "Everyone" group rights to "change" and "read".

Easier said than done...you'll probably need a tech for this one.
First..to scan to folder you require a software called "scanrouter Lite" from Ricoh, which is actually kind of hard to get a hold of these days, since it's nnot supported anymore, and then the configuration is not easy , because it is proprietary...meaning only Ricoh uses it, and it is almost impossible to configure for anyone else that has not used it.
There is however Scan to email, and for this you can open a web browser, and type it's Ip address (if you have it connected via tcp/ip port), enter "admin mode"...user name= "admin", password = "password"...then enter all network settings...IP, DNS, POP,SMTP, etc. then in "address book" enter your destination settings.
This is not a configuration that is easy for a novice either, and it is also not compatible with an email server that uses authentication for outgoing mail.
I may not have helped, b ut I hope I clarified.

Hi Guys,
I had the same problem. This problem is related to name resolution on your network, maybe due to old cache on arp table( every time you turn the power off you are not using the ip address that the server gave to your printer so there is a time to expire, when expired your printer or your computer get a new ip address and then the name linked to that old ip address cause the problem).
To solve this issue just click at windows start
Remember, when you leave you computer off for long time or the pinter is not working, check you ip address again.
