There should be a wiring diagram on the side of the motor. It will show wiring for 220V,or 110V, or both.

SOURCE: High speed spa pump shuts off

The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.

SOURCE: Pump keeps turning off

this pump needs about 21/4" of water to operate properly, this pump will not remove all the water from the cover and will cycle on and off as it looses prime. If the motor turns completely off, it may be a an issue with low line voltage. you can try using a lager gauge extension cord to try and fix it, otherwise have an electrician test the line voltage.

Here is a pdf of the manual:

Testimonial: "This is not the problem. The pump is fully submerged when it fails. Thank you for your responce. "

SOURCE: Replaced Single Speed Pool Pump Motor with 2-Speed Motor

You will need a two speed time clock to really take advantage of real energy efficiency savings. Intermatic makes one that fits in place of the original t104 time clock. You will need to run an additional wire to the pump as well. You will have the ground. Then one common wire that is always hot whether or not you are on high speed or low speed. You could make this a white wire. Then a black wire for your high speed that is energized in high speed and a red wire for the low speed. It is important that the high and low speeds not be energized at the same time, otherwise you will hear a very unpleasant sound coming from the motor, and failure and shortened life of the motor will be realized. Pump runs on low speed but starts and immediatly shuts off when the high speed kicks in

That is an indication that the high speed of your pump has gone out. You can take it to a local motor shop and see if they can rebuild it for you.

How do I replace the capatitor on my 1HP pool pump motor. I have the new part but cannot tell which of the three wires attaches to which terminal.

Please use or contact page feature at www.arrowmotor.net and include your motor model and serial number. I can try to get you the connection diagram. If by chance you have the 2 yellow, one red wire combination, the two yellow go together on either set of posts and the red goes alone on the other set of posts. There is no polarity to a capacitor so it does not matter which set is which, just what wires you pair together.
