Remove top cover, take out the bolt remove the small cover to expose the plate with several screws, remove the screws and lift the inner tub up. Usually this requires two people to get the tub up and out as it is very hard to pull up as it kind of sticks to the shaft

yes my wife and I have been trying and trying. There was tons of old liquid fabric softener I had to dig out just to get this far, I think it has practically glued the tub in. Was wondering if there were and tricks to breaking it loose. Guess I will just keep working it over and over until it breaks loose.

I see some are posting there is a nut to be removed. I do not believe this model has one. It is just the 4 screws. I watched a video on it and it didn't show one either. I was confused about this but according to Bob L and his answer there is none. Thanks for all the help though.

I broke a hammer removing the basket on a 6000 series today. These are known to be a real ***** to remove. Once those screws are out there is a seal nut to remove and the basket hub assembly is what it sits on. Look at 5 and 7 below.

My Maytag Centennial leaves water in the drum, and puts an odor on the clothes, even with monthly cleaning and the lid up in between uses. Is there anything that can be done to remove the water/odor?

Normal for some water to be left in plastic outer tub but should not be visible in inner tub. To get rid of odor, machine may have to be disassembled and inner and outer tubs thoroughly cleaned.

Maytag Neptune Model #mah5500BWW We know it a bearing that's causing the loud noise when it spins. How do you remove the tub to get to the bearing?

There are 2 bearings and a seal. To remove inner tub you'll need to use a hammer/mallet or special tools, and you'll need to basically strip the washer to get to the inner tub. Maytag (Whirlpool) does not sell bearings separately, look them up on ebay, use "maytag neptune bearings" as a key phrase. IIRC, the special tool was also available on ebay for lease. Instructions on how to replace bearings are available there also. If no luck on ebay, try googlee for the same key phrase.

Good luck,

Maytag Dependable LAT8824AAE. Main tub seal leaks

The part number for the mounting stem and seal kit is 6-2095720 it cost about 85 bucks retail. You will also need to buy a special maytag spanner wrench to remove the inner tub. Its NOT an easy job the inner and outer tubs and hoses all need to be removed. The seal kit comes with no instructions. If you had a service company do the job it would be probably around 250 maybe more. We charge 104.95 labor for the job. Good luck _MJ_

Maytag Washer: How to Remove Tub

Under the agitator is a flat nut with notches in it. this nut requires a spanner wrench that will fit into the notches. You can use a large channel lock plier. rotate the nut counter-clockwise. under the nut will be a seal. remove the nut and the seal and pull up on the inner tub. to replace you'll need to replace the seal. if the nut isn't too chopped up, use this to refasten the tub.

Removing Tub from Maytag Atlantis Washer

I do believe that when you remove the four bolts, it should come out. Sometimes you have to use a little force and shimmy left to right to get it to break loose (no hammers please) especially if you have a lot of scum build-up from soap. They can really be a bear sometimes to remove. Maybe put your foot in the bottom of the tub and hit it on both sides to work it free. Good Luck!!! Jim

Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW

I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW. I need to replace the transmission. So I removed all four screws from the inner tub but I couldnt get the inner tub pull out, it's stuck.

From what I read on here, the seal nut doesn't have to be remove in order to remove the inner tub.

I tried every, I even hammer the shaft down from the inside of the tub but still no luck. Can someone help, thanks.
