My bsic formula works=(((last year's blaance +(last year's balance*(annual interest rate/12))- payment) or =(((B13+(B13*(b$7/12))-B$10) but when I try my if formula, I keep getting errors. Can anybody tell me how to write that if formula so when it is below 0, the answershows 0.
Double check that the number format for the cell you are calculating in is set up to show "red" negative numbers or negative numbers in parentheses... it could be set up to show "no" decimal points...
Try this: =IF(B13+(B13*B$7/12-B$10)<0,0,B13+(B13*B$7/12-B$10))
One useful technique for this type of thing is to use the MAX function.
If you put your formula into the MAX function in this way...
=MAX(YourFormula,0)
then any time that the answer to your formula is 0 or greater it will return the answer to your formula, and any time your formula returns a negative number it will return zero.
