My LG front loader washer making noise in spin cycle, especially last 5 minutes, how to I fix this?

Guessing bearings, gets stuck in those last 5 minutes, keeps rinsing + spinning with noise. Drum does not move a lot, just moving it with your hand. Noise is not grinding.

Open door and see if the drum can be moved up and down or side to side a lot. if it can, then you need a new bearing most likely. this would most likely only happen on a older washer that has been used quite a bit. repairclinic.com and appliancepartspros.com both have very good videos to show how the bearing can be replaced. takes some time and work, but if everything else on the washer is good, it could be worth the trouble. good luck.

SOURCE: My model #gltr1670aso makes loud noises during spin cycle

Usually this is due to either the drum support breaking or the back bearing being bad-neither easy to fix- or worth it. Try lifting the drum up and down, if it moves up and down they are bad. I see this a lot, and the price of repair isn't worth it. Craig

SOURCE: LG WD-8050FH LOUD noice when spinning & 'funny' burning smell!!

I had the same symptoms and almost dismantled the whole machine to locate the root of the cause. The issue was one of the 3 arms of the spider (like a 3 spoked wheel that connects to the rear of the drum and holds it in place and provides the drive shaft to through to the motor at the rear), had snapped after weakening from corrosion due to undissolved washing powder building up in the grooves.
To prevent this, do a hot wash every few weeks to dissolve the powder, don't think your saving the environment by using only cold washes, this should be in every washing machine manual to save the environment from waste from un-economically repairable appliances.
The burning smell was the unbalanced drum leaning heavily on the rubber shroud on the front between the drum and the outer casing. The replacement spider part was only about AU$60-80.

To check if this is the problem you may be able to tell by opening the door, and reaching in from the front with your palm up about a hand distance till you go past the rubber shroud and just touch the stainless steel drum. Grip it gently with your four fingers and pull towards the front (to you) about 1cm or two, with about as much force you would need to open the machine's door. Rotate the drum approx one third of a rotation and repeat, do this 3 times and you should feel one point give more than the others.
If no luck try again in sixths of a rotation, you can gauge the distance by the 3 plastic agitators attached on the inside wall of the drum.

Note: get a price on labour first to replace the spider, as this will be probably more than half way to a new machine, and then the cost of the part, and the call-out fee if you can't get it into a service centre.

What's the point of having a long lasting stainless steel drum when the key part that connects the drum to the motor is a weak cast iron / alloy part.
Ask your local service person what units have quality parts before buying a new machine.

ps: the loud noise is probably the cracked arm rubbing or the unbalanced drum hitting the sides and making the machine jump.

Hope this all helps!

2001 Gibson Washing Machine - Front Loader

Hi,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

My front loader LG washing machine noisy on spin.

i am guessing the rubber is from the door seal gasket and i am guessing that the clicking and noise and shaking is from the bearing that the drum spins on being worn out. not an unheard of issue. there are some very good videos on taking the washer apart and replacing the bearings if you are up for it. check out repairclinic.com or appliancepartspros.com. enter your model number and look for the corresponding videos. lots of steps, but really not all that hard. just label the parts/screws so they go back where they came from. all you may need is the bearing(2) and the seal. (get a homedepot 5 gallon bucket as a support for your drum as you work on it). i am pretty handy and a bit of a risk taker(its is already broken so how can i break it more?) and did this from the videos having never worked on a washer of this type before. good luck.

I have a LG front loader WD-1049C it's 6 yrs old And has just started to make a loud noise while in spin cycle All other cycles are fine

If the washer is making a loud noise the tub bearing might need to be replaced. This is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. The manufacturer recommends that if possible the complete outer tub and bearing be replaced rather than attempting to replace just the bearing in the tub. If the bearing is bad the problem is going to get worse very quickly and so either the drum and bearing will need to be replaced or the washing machine

We heard a large BANG and now it is so noisy

The rear bearing in most front loaders lasts an average of 5 years under normal usage. Spin the drum manually with your hand and seee if it is nice and smooth and quiet. If the bearing is ok it is probable that 1 of the shocks is broken on the bottom.

Lg WM1812cw makes alot of noise when in spin cycles.

There are always bearings. This model uses a direct drive brushless DC motor so there are no belts and such. Without actually hearing the noise with no load, it's hard to say what may actually be wrong. Any time a motor makes an abnormal noise, you can expect it won't last too much longer. I have the same model so now I'm worried.

Whirlpool washer front loader model LHW0050PQ

This is not a Malber machine but the following fix has worked for the Malber washer. Try unplugging the machine for at least 2 minutes. Do not just turn it off as there is still current going to the machine .This should clear the computer. If this does not work, the imbalance may have overloaded the circuit board requiring replacement.
