Green light turns on briefly, then orange light comes on, tv will not turn on no picture, no sound, what could be wrong?
It looks like the control board is not receiving a voltage that it is expecting to tell it the TV is fully on, and is going into a fail-safe shutdown mode. I would start by looking for swollen capacitors on the boards in the set as well as for loose/bad solder connections on those boards. Aside from that you would need a service manual and some test equipment to troubleshoot it. Sorry I can't be more help, I have not had to work on this particular model before.
First check the voltages on the power supply, the 5V and 12V and also when you turn it on make sure the 24V is getting to the inverter board, if all that is there check the on voltage after you turn it on and see if it goes to about 2.3V. if all the voltages check ok probably the
main board, small signal board, if voltages are bad then power supply board, as mentioned by the other suggestions check for swolen caps
Just do what Bill is telling you. There is something wrong with the power supply. Even when you have not enough skills or knowledge to do the repairs yourself. But before investing a lot in repairs, check out what a new TV will cost now, because prices are still dropping.

hi i had the the same promblem where the screen and sound went out and the light still lit. have someone or do it yourself, check the ceramic fuses on the y sys board which is the large board on the right looking at it from the back of the tv. i replaced mine becasue that board was not working. if not it could be the power supply. i got the board on ebay and replaced it myself saved about 400 dollars.

This could be the power supply baord / Bad Caps/ They will be puffed up..
Or if the inverter board is bad** Inverter board lights the backlights.

Above is a training manual, this should help you find and fix the problem if you wish to DIY. If you DO, decide to DIY, you MUST MUST get a Service Manual, for your exact make & model. it will be similar to the Training manual, but explicitly for your set.
I do not recommend it however. In my professional opinion, you should contact Vizio and ask for an approved local service center, then, get a "Quote" for repair.
With faults such as this, it is important to leave them disconnected from the wall, as it is entirely possible, for a faulty, TV, to cause a fire, an explosion, or both. Anytime one hears any sort of "pop" similar or not, is grave cause for concern, as usually this means some sort of component failure, in a high voltage area.
