I have to uninstall apps constantly to add one. What good is an external sd card if it can't be used? Is there a way to switch storage from internal sd to external? I have only 2 game apps (solitaire and word search) on my tablet. My old smart phone holds way more apps and it is 5 years old.

Yes, the hardware is SDHC-compatible. You just need to apply Microsoft hotfix KB934428 for Windows XP (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=de&FamilyID=6edfb30f-b1ab-42a8-a330-acd6762961bc) and you are set. 16GB SDHC working like a charm.

Good luck!
