I have and Amana electric dryer when I push the start button it buzzes and does not start

Wild guess the dryer is overloaded, Or too hot and needs to cool down. There are temp sensors that will prevent starting when too hot. You may have drive belt or fan problems exhaust pipe clog.

How to fix so it turns on and drys instead of humming and Pausing

If the dryer is I humming but the drum is not turning then the motor is turning but the belt is not attached, it is probably broken and needs a new belt. if your belt is intact then your motor or start capacitor is bad.

GE dryer model DDE8200GALAD was working fine. After removing a load and trying to dry another, after inserting the load and shutting the door when you turn the timer to start it before pushing the start...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

Dryer won't start

The problem is likely a malfunctioning centrifugal start switch in the motor.

More info, let me know.

Combo Kenmore dryer buzzes when turned on. Dryer

Your dryer motor is being told to turn, but cannot. One possible reason is due to lint build up on the motor shaft.

Here is how it works: the motor has a set of starter coils, and a set of running coils. There is a momentum actuated sliding switch on the shaft. When the motor starts from the normal rest position, the spring loaded switch on the motor shaft makes contact with the set of starting windings on the A/C motor. When the motor reaches a certain speed, the momentum of the motor causes weights on the collar to try to move outward. Through this outward movement, the force is directed through a mechanism which moves the collar on the shaft to the other set of contacts for the running coils of the motor.

In some cases, lint builds up on the motor shaft and can cause the sliding switch to lock into place instead of being able to slide back and forth. If the collar is locked into place over the running contacts, you could get this buzzing noise. The motor is trying to run, but doesn't have enough torque to start, and therefore will sit and buzz....
