Sorry, I cannot help as I do not know the answer but ignore Andrew Taylors comment as he has failed to understand that we are not all as PERFECT as him and your request may be genuine.
I forgot my password for my banking app the other day and had to get my bank to reset it. This kind of thing happens.
My daughter did not use her iPod for a few weeks and could not remember her password and ended up locking it. I had to restore it through iTunes.
I used to work in a computer repair shop (before the days of Android and Tablets) and had to reset LOTS of passwords for people. Most of them were regular customers and lots of them had been sold to them by me so I know they were not stolen.
Sometimes something can go wrong when changing your password or you may select something you 'think' you would remember but subsequently forget.
But you must appreciate stuff like that does get stolen and questions could be asked on here on how to get round the password.
Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable will help you.

Your son needs to tell you the code he used to lock the tablet. Alternately you may need to contact the manufacturer to see if there is a way to reset the tablet back to OEM config (this will erase the code and all apps installed).

Try to get in contact that you have for a server and they can tell you your password and send it e-mail for you to know your password.
