SOURCE: Can't Get 360 to Work

Your receiver is not capable of upconverting analog to HDMI (digital). You will need to add component video cables either from the Denon to the TV or simply straight to the TV from the XBox. Audio should be handled solely by the Denon receiver.

SOURCE: No video on Denon avr 688

After days of frustration the real problem was with the cable box. It needed a firmware update. Following forum advice I disconnected the cable box power cord for a few minutes, reconnected it, allowed the cable box to reinitialize. Turned off receiver and TV. Turned TV back on and set it to HDMI connection, turned on receiver and all worked fine. Great picture and sound.( Needed to buy an optical cable to go from the cable box to the receiver to get sound from the speaker system. )--the dirtybird

Is a denon AVR 2808 compatible with a 4q hdmi cable?

Hello Terry, your Denon AVR 2808, is not compatible with HDMI 4K signals, only for HDMI type 1.3, HD signals
You can use your TV to connect all HDMI 4K sources and send a fiber optic connection from the TV to the Denon to get the sound of the equipment connected to the TV
Greetings Franco Dosil

How do I get HDMI cables to sync or talk to each other. We had this problem when we hooked up an Apple TV box to a Denon AVR-E400 and our Sony HD TV. We were told to disconnect all HDMI cables unplug

Personally I would use an RCA cable and hook up the AVR.
((RCA out of TV to AVR audio in))
((cable box HDMI cable output to TV HDMI Input1))
(As far as the AppleTv I would use a separate HDMI Input2)
If your AVR has a dvd or blue ray player Hook up a
HDMI cable out to another Input HDMI3 of the TV
using separate inputs on the tv will allow your surround system to be
used on all modes(CABLE,DVD/BLUERAY,APPLETV)

I'm trying to connect a Samsung HD LCD tv to a Denon AVR1508 receiver using HDMI cable so that the TV sound comes thru the receiver/speakers. which jack do I use (on both the tv and the receiver,

connect the hdmi to the tv (hdmi input 1) and to the receiver (hdmi output) you must make sure that the receiver input settings are assigned correctly. Then hook up all of your devices to the receiver. remember that the 1508 dosent do hdmi upconversion, so if you have any devices that are NOT hdmi, you need to run rca cables from the output of you receiver to the input of your tv. If you have any digital inputs coming out of your devices, i would recommend using them. your 1508 has two inputs that are assignable.
If all of your devices are hooked up to your receiver, and its hooked up to your tv properly, just turn down the sound on your tv, and turn up the volume on your denon!

Trying to connect HP M9060N and Sharp Aquos through Denon AVR 1508, only get 'no signal' response. Have HDMI 1 set to DVD, HDMI 2 to AUX, HDMI 3 to TV, which is order of HDMI outlets on receiver.

Depending on your TV inputs, you are better off to run video componenets through TV first then, connect TV to reciever via digital optical. Recievers have video pass through but, noyt the best route. You can use TV's menu to choose what you watch and, only have the one output from TV to reciever. Make sure you scan through TV and reciever menus to make sure you are selecting the right channel.

Can you tell me what are the functions of the two hdmi inputs, and the one hdmi output ,as my cable only works via the tv to the dvd player and a coax from dvd to the coax on avr, so hdmi on avr is...

Let's treat this as TWO functions - audio and video.

Your best video would be HDMI output (audio & video) from the cable box and EACH other video source (BD/DVD) directly to your TV and receiver. But, I'd still WATCH the video from the direct TV connection. The fewer intervening cables and electronics, the better.

Your best audio performance will come directly from each multichannel source via a digital (HDMI, coaxial or optical) cable to the receiver. I would LISTEN to audio through the receiver for best quality.

See a trend here? TV's best at video; receiver is the master of audio.
And neither one adds much by handling the other. Usually the opposite.

You mention coax. Do you mean coaxial digital audio????? As coax is also shorthand for the thick black cable bringing video to most cable boxes, connecting antennae to TV's and such.

You don't actually define what the problem is. Only YOU can be the judge of what 'better' is.

There are a multitude of (mis)settings you should master before declaring a hardware problem. I'd dive into the manual.

No video on Denon 1508

Coax-2 is audio. Where's the video from the cable tuner coming into the Denon?

Why don you need the cable to pass video through the Denon on iuts way to the TV anyway? Interconnnects rarely add value.

I have my PS3 and TV hooked up to the HDMI ports. I have programmed the unit to show them under TV and DVD respectivly. When I change the source to TV or DVD, nothing shows up on my TV as expected

Sounds like you hooked them both up to HDMI input ports. Make sure that the PS3 is connected to an HDMI input port on the AVR-1508, and that the TV is connected to an HDMI output port (not an input).
