Air condition and heat know not working

My grandson left the dome light on all night and ran the battery down I put a new battery in and now the ac and the heat switches won't work. I checked all fuses and relays all are good. When I push the AC button it doesn't light or anything and when I change the thermostat control button to hot or cold it stays the same as outside temp. Blower motor switch works fine in all positions

Thank You I bought a used A/C Heat control module and put it on and it works great and easy to install. Just popped out the trim around the radio and the ac vents took out 2 screws on each side of the unit and plugged up the wiring harness wires and everything works

You need to ensure the engine is running when you are testing the AC or heating systems, as they rely upon a compressor to work the heat pump.

If your engine is on when you are testing this and no different temp air comes out, you should ensure your AC system is properly charged with coolant and that the compressor is engaging and functioning. If not, it will need to be replaced.

SOURCE: AIR CONDITIONING

Your problem is on the fan speed switch on the dash board. You can get it from the dealer for $50.00 or you can get the whole control assembly with all the switches from a junk yard for about $50.00. I had the same problem and that's what I did.
Good luck.

SOURCE: AIR CONDITIONING

I had the same problem. I went to garage and had the A/C recharged.

check battery connectors if they are loose or any loose wire on the starter. Could be something drains the battery like the dome light or car alarm wire or perhaps the battery is dead. Check before hand if all your doors close properly cause maybe your dome light is burned and still sucks out electricity... But finally when you put the key in the ignition is there lights on the dashboard^

1978 GMC Vandura air conditioning belt replacement

I know this is no help really, but I have the part numbers for the belts but no diagram. I only have diagrams for serpentine belts.
Generally, the ac belt is the last one on the crank pulley. You should be able to tell if it goes around a pulley if you have empty pulley grooves.
Most V8 GM engines ran the AC belt around the crank and the water pump, but it depends on where they mounted the ac compressor.
And usually the compressor pivoted to adjust the tension.
If you can look down the groove of the ac clutch pulley and see any empty pulley grooves I would try running the belt in those grooves.
According to my Gates book, the alt belt goes around the crank and fan pulley, and the ac belt does too.

Interior light left on all night, next morning car did not start, put in new battery, alarm kept going off, car still did not start

I know this might sound stupid but make sure that you are putting the positive cable on the positive side of the battery and same on the negative side. I had one of my customers install a battery on his car and the alarm kept going of non stop because he crossed the wires. And he also blew his Ignition/engine fuse. Also check your main fuse.

Over night the battery is dead

Put a 12v test light between the positive terminal and the battery cable. If the light is bright the draw is to much.A dim light is fine.if the light is bright, plug one fuse at a time until light dims.DO NOT cause a draw by leaving a door open etc while testing.DO NOT try and start the car or turn the key on during this test.Once you have found the fuse that causes the most draw,if you want to save $ you can just pull this fuse overnight or wire that circuit with a relay to unpower it when the vehicle is switched off.

Won't turn over

You probably need a new battery. Starting takes a LOT more current out of the battery than the dome lights, etc.

The last couple of batteries that failed on me gave me no warning.

2001 Pontiac Bonneville won't start

have you not left any load on overnight?..like park light or left the door partially open and the dome light would be left on?

have the battery recharge and the next night, make sure that no light would be left on the car.

if it would drain out again, have it recharged again, use it and on the night, make sure no light is left on the car, then remove the positive pole on the battery overnight.

the next morning, put the positive cable back and start the car.

if the car would start, then no problem with the battery, if the car would not start, then return the battery because it is defective.

tnx 4 using fixya,
