Dear Lorraine, could you please provide us with some details so we could try to find a solution to your problem?
1) What is your Kindle model?
2) Was the battery fully charged when you tried to turn it on?
3) Were all small connectors re-attached to their respective counterparts in the Kindle's circuit board?
4) Have you checked if the new screen is also broken (could have happened during transportation) and hence, will not show anything on it?
Anyway, while we wait for your answers to these questions, you could try to to leave the Kindle charging for some two or three hours and then try to reboot it again (check if the charging LED is also turning on, during the charging period and if it changes color when the device is fully charged).
We will be waiting for your answers in order to try to find a suitable solution.
Regards,
Miguel L. Martins
