You need a VGA cable (15 pin) connected from PC (monitor out) to the PC input on the HDTV (15 pin) this is for the video. For the audio, connect from PC to HDTV, audio cable, either 3.5mm from earphone out on PC to HDTV 3.5mm audio input (next to PC VGA input) and also be sure to set PC screen resolution to compatible output for HDTV like 1024 X 768 or 600 x 800 etc.
Connect VGA (D-sub 15 pin) cable from PC to TV (RGB PC) input jack. Connect audio cable from PC to TV. Set screen resolution on PC to be compatible with TV, such as 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768 etc. Select on the TV, the PC INPUT using the TV remote when ready to use as monitor.
Under PICTURE on the TV select SCREEN (RGB-PC). You can AUTO-CONFIG or you can set resolution manually to the same you set PC to. Other adjustments can be done here as well to get optimum picture on TV from PC.
If it is, then yeah you should be able to output VGA from a PC to the TV with a proper cable.
However if the TV has DVI or HDMI connections on it, it's better for
you to connect it that way. DVI/HDMI is a digital signal and if it's a
digital-based display tech TV, then you're better off using that. Also
if the TV does resolution above 1360x768 (i.e. if it does 1080p) you
can get higher resolution by going via DVI/HDMI...
Your right. I just had the same "Invalid Input" issue as well and it completely relates to the resolution compatability with any VGA or HDMI connection. Check the LG website for the online manual if you don't have it and see the section on RGB-PC cable. There is a table that incdicates the Resolutions the LG product is capable of displaying.
Check your vga cable. Some cables have only 14 pins, some have all 15. The missing pin is pin 9, in the 15 pin cable it carries 5v from the graphics card to the screen. Without that 5v signal most LCD and Plasma television screens won't recognise a PC input. I had the same problem and only managed to fix it when my girlfriend swapped a cable over for me and as she did so glanced inside and said "it's got a bit missing" The cable that came with your PC most likely only has 14 ins as that is all a monitor screen needs. You can buy a 15 pin cable at most PC or electronic shops, just check that isdoes have all 15 pins befiore you buy it. The cheap ones are just as good as the expensive ones unless you are buying 20 foot cable. For 6 foot cable the cheap ones are just as good as the expensive ones.
