I have a KLAUM tv which is actually an HP 4200VPM. I am looking for a universal remote app that will work on my phone for the TV.

The Sylvania LC302SL1 is not a smart TV. You can only use an IR remote to control the TV. Otherwise, look for any universal remote that was programmed in 2011 or later. (Usually it takes 6 months or so for the universal remote manufacturers to get codes for new TVs. The Sylvania LC302SL1 manual has a copyright date of 2010.)

There was a period when some phones and tablets included an IR transmitter. If you have one of these, then look for an IR blaster (TV remote) app on the appropriate store.

Universal remotes usually come with a booklet that has the codes needed to pair them with our TVs. My suggestion there would be to find a universal remote manual online that will provide codes for your model of TV and try them. There may be more than one code that might work.

Also, your cell phone requires a RF (radio frequency) transmitter built into it, in order for it to work like remotes that come with televisions. You can look your phone up on gsmarena website to see if it has the RF hardware in it which will tell you if it's capable of acting as a remote or not capable.

wharfdale TVs are rebadged by Argos, so I am unsure of the actual manufacturer, and therefore the control signal scheme that they use.
It might help if you gave the model number of the particular TV, as they could be using several different manufacturers in their range of televisions.

As far I can understand the cell phones do not have IR capability. You can check the features of your phone on the Samsung website.

If you want to find out whether the phone can be used as a remote controller for your TV and other equipment then a) your phone should have Wifi and android / iOS capability and b) your TV should also have wifi connectivity and the TV supplier should have created an android/ iOS app for remote control through cell phone.
You can check the website of your TV / DVD/ etc manufacturer for any smart apps for remote control.
Alternatively you can use devices from other suppliers that can be used as universal remotes with cell phones.

As your phone is an Android smart phone you should be able to find the correct device or application provided your TV or other AV are compatible.

As you have likely discovered, most universal remotes do not list GPX as a device. GPX is a low cost version of Sony devices, in most cases the Sony device codes will operate GPX devices.
