Pull cord wont turn engine though cord does wind back

did this break at the pull handle? if so you will still be able to re-use the same cord.
you have to first remove the pull mechanizum from the top of the engine. turn it upside down and get the old pull chord off 'If it has broken at the engine end of the cord. You will find the end of the cord inside, remove it with a pair of pin nosed pliers.
If broken at the pull handle remove the broken and of the cord from the back side of the handle. There will be a knot tied in either end. Assuming you still have enough pull cord . Cut the broken end so it is not frayed slip it through the pull handle and tie a simple knot & make it tight with some pliers.
re wind the spring by hand winding the cord back into the spool.
now you need a small zap strap to hold it all in place until you reinstall the pull mechanizum on top of the engine.Once you have done this cut the zap strap off and retrieve it as you do.
Hint* "with only 2 hands" I have used pin nosed vice grips to hold back the spring while I tie it off with zap strap or stiff string.
If the cord if broken at the engine end you will need to line up the cord input with the cord journal and hold in place while you try to feed the cord back through. Hint* use a smaller peice of wire to feed through the opposite direction and wind it around the cord several times so you can pull it through to the inside of the pull mechanizum and tie a knot. Being careful not to let the coiled spring escape, take off the cord drum and cord. Undo or cut of the handle end knot of the cord. Take off the handle. Unwind the cord from the drum but leave the cord attached to the drum. Leave the cord loose and not wound onto the drum. Replace the drum and engage the lug on its underside in the loop on the end of the spring. Put the screw back to hold the drum in place. Wind the drum against the spring as if you were winding the cord back onto the drum until you have put as many turns on the drum as there are as many coils of cord, and then add another turn. Wind the cord around the drum in the correct direction, pop the free end through the hole in the casing and through the handle, tie the not on the handle end to secure it. Job done.

on the side where the pull cord was remove casing pull the cord through the hole on the casing wind the spring back on the strimmer not to tight but tight enough for the cord to return once pulled. Attach the cord onto the spring this will be obvious there is a little hole the cord goes through then pull a bit of cord through tie a nott then pull the cord back so the nott is tight against the spring ,let the spring spring back the gord shoul wind onto the spring reattach the casing and job done hope this helps

you will need to pull the shroud back off, turn shroud upside down, wind it up and with a screwdriver or another pair of hands thread the cord back through, tie a knot and burn it, let go of the it, it will wind the cord back in, pull on it a few times and make sure it is working, then reinstall. Remove the starter assembly from the side of the engine. Remove the balance of the old cord from the spool and purchase about 1-meter of replacement cord from a saw shop (it should be nylon, not cotton). Insert the new cord into the center slot/hole in the spool, melt the end, and tie an overhand knot. Wind the cord around the spool several turns in the same direction as the old cord, then pull on the cord to wind the return spring inside the spool. Wedge the spool to prevent rewinding, then continue to wind the cord until about 8-10 inches are left. Feed the cord end through the cord port and into the handle. Melt the cord end, then tie an overhand knot and pull the knot back into the cavity in the handle. Remove the spool wedge and test the pull of the cord--it should pull out smoothly and return fully without slack. Hope this helps!

Remove the starter assembly from the engine and pull the cord out--it should have spring resistance to pulling. If nothing, the rewind spring may be broken, or it may have pulled loose from one of the attachment points. Remove the cord from the pull handle and unwind it from the spool if it isn't already pulled out. Remove the spool from the frame to expose the spring--check the ends for breakage and the attachment points for damage (one will be on the under side of the spool). Repair or replace any damaged components and assemble the spring into the attachments. Wind the spool/spring about 2-turns CW, then wedge it to prevent unwinding. Fit the cord back into the spool and wind it CW until the cord has about 8" or so to feed out through the cord port. Fit the cord end back into the handle, tie an overhand knot, and push the knot into the handle bore. Remove the spool wedge and try pulling the cord several times to make sure it goes out and back smoothly. Return the starter to the engine and attempt starting. Hope this helps!

remove the cover and the screw holding the recoil down, turning the pulley ccw should release the spring then wind rope around pulley and (hopefully yours has the slot in it) wind in the direction of the pulley teeth then, holding rope in slot put back on spring and wind cw till almost tight, and install screw. Usually you can do this without taking rope handle off. sometimes you have to remove handle. look at spring end in the middle and make sure its not broke as long as you have it apart. Its a easy fix.

Replacing the spring on this tiller can be tough. You have to get the tension spring set into the stop and partially wind the tension (by turning the cord pulley) and THEN attach the cord before completing winding the tension spring. It took me about an hour to figure out how much preset of tension was needed before I was able to get it to work. You have to partially preset tension because starting from zero will not fully rewind the cord.

Easier than you might think. You need a screwdriver along with the sockets to remove the housing over the rewind assembly. Once you have the housing off and access to the assembly, remove the old cord by using it to wind the spring all the way out. Before you take the cord out slip a screwdriver in the slots to keep it from winding back up. If it does, it's not a concern. Just wind the spring back out by turning the rewind until it stops, then turn it back one turn until the holes line up for the cord. Stick the new cord through and tie it off, and let the spring pull the new cord in. If you need any help with it, hit me up.

NOT SURE IF YOUR STARTER IS PART OF THE COVER BUT IF IT IS IT CAN BE A BIT TRICKY AS SOME MACHINES YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE STARTER WHEEL TO GAIN ACCESS TO REMOVE WHAT IS LEFT OF THE OLD CORD AND THEN FEED ANOTHER CORD THROUGH THE HOLE. UNDER THE STARTER WHEEL YOU SHOULD HAVE A LARGE COILED SPRING WITH A CIRCULAR HOOK POSSIBLY ON THE END WHICH HAS TO ENGAGE TOO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE WHEEL, ONCE THAT IS DONE YOU HAVE TO PULL THE ROPE INTO A NOTCH ON THE WHEEL BEFORE YOU WIND IT AROUND THE WHEEL, TURN THE WHEEL IN THE DIRECTION THAT THE COILED SPRING END WAS POINTING UNTIL IT STOPS, BACK IT OFF 1 TURN FEED THE END OF THE CORD THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE BODY OF THE COVER AND PUT A LOOP IN THE CORD NEAR THE HOLE TO STOP THE CORD FROM WINDING IN, THEN PUT THE RUBBER PULL END ON THE CORD AND TIE A KNOT IN THE CORD BEHIND THE RUBBER PULLER TO STOP THE CORD FROM PULLING BACK THROUGH THE HOLE.
rELEASE THE LOOP IN THE CORD NEAR THE COVER HOLE THAT YOU PUT IN AND LET THE SPRING WIND THE CORD BACK IN TO THE STARTER WHEEL
