To replace the battery, the unit must be power on.
If it is off, usually user memory will be erased.
The steps are:
1-Turn off the unit by unplugging the power cable.
2-Disassembly the unit, until the battery looks and
affordable to be removed.
Do not take it off first. Before the unit is turned on,
make sure there are no parts that come into contact with
one another which may result in a short circuit.
3-Prepare a new battery.
4-Turn on the unit. Wait a moment until the loading
process as usual. Remove the old battery and replace it with
a new one immediately.
Make sure the polarity is correct and has been attached correctly.
5-Turn off the unit. Re-assembly the unit.
.
If the battery using a socket, just remove and replace.
But when the battery soldered on the mainboard,
it must be removed by soldered.
The procedure is the same.

I have a Yamaha MM6 - only the piano category works - the wheel jogs through the voices. No other category works and no functions work. No lights are on apart from the display.

maybe this will help ...... I have a Korg M1 ..... it has a small button battery for maintaining memory and sounds .... mine lasted about 10 years ...... I looked up in Google how to change the battery .... I looked up in my M1 instructions how to reload the sounds .... I had lost all my synth sounds except the basic piano ...... I changed the battery and reloaded the sounds from a backup card I had bought years ago .... M1 works perfectly now .... you probably lost any saved songs .... contact Yamaha how to change the battery and reload the original songs .... any saved songs are gone .... next time, back them up ... good luck

I am trying to connect my Korg M1 via my presonus interface into my Studio One program. HOw do I get connected after MIDI cables are hooked up?

Hope i did not miss understood...
If MIDI is hooked up there are only the audio signals left to connect...
Try to connect the audio outputs from the M1 to the DIĀ“s of the interface via instrument line cables and routing them to/in your software...then set up midi channels for one instrument track that triggers the M1 and activate an audio track to record/monitor your incoming M1 audio signal

I have a korg n1 and when I turn it on the display screen comes on but no words show up on it I was wondering how to fix it

It sounds like your ROM battery, which the ROM contains and stores the patches for the keyboard, has gone completely dead and your keyboard is dead in the water. However, if you can get a MIDI to USB converter and get the battery changed, then you can reload the patches back onto the keyboard.

I have worked on a Korg M1 Workstation and have had to replace the battery(CR2032) and then had to run a program called "MIDI-OX" which also gave me access to the patches needed in order to restore the keyboard to factory patch settings.

http://www.midiox.com/

Take a look at this AFTER you have gotten the battery replaced. I will tell you that replacing most batteries is a very intricate job as, the bottom of the keyboard has to be removed, as well as a lot of the internal boards. I had to draw a diagram and mark certain pieces so I would know where they went and in what order they have to be re-attached. My advice is take it to someone who works on electronics unless you want to DIY (not recommended) to get the battery replaced.

Hope this helps.

TR76 76 Key Synthesizer Workstation : i own a korg m1 however by accident my dad knocked...

Most likely an electronic item could have broken in the circuit board, a resistor, transistor, capacitor, etc. Take it to a technician at a repair shop. Have them take a look at it, usually estimates are free.

I dont know how to replace the internal battery on a Korg M1

You should be able to remove the top cover off your keyboard and see the quarter-size battery mounted in a holder on one of the circuit boards.
I don't recall the exact location on this particular model, but once you've located it, all you have to do is slide it out from under the contact spring that holds it in place and slide a new one in.
You'll want to make the swap fairly quickly as some models can lose their memory settings if battery power is lost for a relatively short amount of time.
