Anyone know where to find a replacement VERTICAL LOCK KNOB for a Meade ETX-70? Or what fix might work instead?

Knob missing. Gone. Kaput. Non-existent. Gone with the wind.

Look at the link below for a FIX for a broken Dec knob. This is a common problem so once it is fixed do NOT overtighten.

I have a Meade ETX-90/ec telescope, the verticle lock knob will not thighten. It appears to be stripped. how can I fix it? Where can I get a parts list? Thank you

The bolt is stripped away from the plastic knob-- TAKE THE vertical lock knob off and inspect the bolt head-- you can use a STRONG glue to fix it -- epoxy or something similar.

Hi, Original focus knob fell off my atx 70 and now the 'focus rod' goes inside the telescope instead of moving front part. Is there any way to fix it?

The knob had a tiny set screw on the side of it-- that tightened down on the shaft.

See if you can tighten it back up. If it is missing take it to a well stocked hard ware store and see if you can find a replacement Allen style set-screw.

The vertical lock knob on my Meade ETX-70AT was over tightened and is broken. I contacted Meade and was told that they no longer stock this part. Looking for a source for the part.

You might be able to drill a hole through the plastic knob and use a washer and a bolt to hold the screw tight. Or do something like this fix:

Telescope tilts up and down without any resistance. The motor does not move it.

You have the famous broken declination knob!! Read these two web sites for the fix. It will require you to disassemble part of the scope.

I have a Meade ETX-90EC. I cannot tighten the vertical lock to engage the motor. Motor works fine (I think, I can hear it turning) but the knobbed dial just keeps turning (clockwise) and never seems to...

It's a simple solution!
Take the knob off, and use a simple washer, will will hold up in between the plastic and metal surfaces.
This should be your solution!

Slew problem

You did tighten the DEC knob? If you did the altitude gears (a worm gear) is not engaing properly. You can either return it to Meade for repairs or attempt them yourself.

I would also check that you have fresh batteries and that the UP button on the hand controller is not broken.
