Did you get a set of restore disks with laptop? Or did you make the
system restore disks yourself when you got the unit? If neither apply you are out of luck and you can do either one of two things.- contact the manufacturer for restore disks or just get a hold of the OS disks for the system you want and do a clean install. Of course, the latter will not include any of the software that came with your machine initially.

Hi guys, my moms laptop won't load windows, it keeps giving her an error message saying that "windows could not complete the installation, to install windows on this computer, restart the...

Looks most likely that your Moms' hard disk has some bad sector on the boot drive. The best you can do is to reinstall the laptop. You may have to hand over the laptop to someone who is good with computer and has the OS disk to this this for you.

Corrupted Registry

Often good registry cleaners include built-in Backup & Restore centre thatlets you recover from an unforeseen situation by simply restoring the state ofyour registry.

Faulty RAM

Your computer freezes due to problemswith the computer memory. A faulty RAM may result in Blue Screen of Death(BSOD).

In such a case, remove the existing RAM and clean it using a soft cloth. Then, connect it again. The problem may not persist..

Incomplete Installations

Your computer freezes because of a previously failed or incompleteinstallation. An incomplete or failed installation creates junk registryentries and thereby system crashing problem.

APPCRASH error please help

When program files or files within your computer's registry have become corrupted, this can cause the programs to unexpectedly crash. When a program crashes, you will likely get an Appcrash error. The error message will say "Windows Media Player (or whichever program has crashed) has stopped working" and then list rows of technical information regarding the cause of the crash. Unless you are a computer programmer, you may never fully understand what caused your program crash, but that doesn't mean that you can't fix it.
Delete any new programs that you have downloaded. Often, the cause of corruption in a computer system are bad downloads that bring harmful files onto your computer. If you started to get the Appcrash error on your system after downloading a new program or software from the Internet, it's highly likely you have downloaded a bad product. Use the "Add/Remove Programs" feature in your "Control Panel" to get rid of the program immediately.
Uninstall the program that is crashing. It is possible to fix the program's corrupted files while the program is still installed, but to make sure that you clear the program files completely, it is safest to completely uninstall it from the system.
Run a full scan of your computer. Your computer should already have antivirus software installed that can scan for corrupted files and either fix them or delete them from your system. If you do not have antivirus software on your computer, that could be a big part of the problem. Purchase and install antivirus software as soon as possible. These are designed tor from outside threats. Once you have the antivirus program installed, open it and click "Scan Computer." The antivirus scan will isolate bad files and you will be given the option to remove them from your system.
  1. Reinstall the program that was crashing. Now that the corrupted files have all been removed, your program should run smoothly after reinstallation.
  2. Check for program incompatibility. If, after a thorough scan and cleaning of your computer and reinstallation of your program, the Appcrash errors continue, the program you are trying to use may not be compatible with your program. For instance, there are some DVD softwares, such as Media Now, that do not work correctly with Windows Vista. These lists can be easily found online. If this is the case, you will have to purchase a software program that is compatible with your OS
You should download a program such as RegCure and run it from time to time. If you are unable to download a copy let me know and I will give you a link on my web where you can download it.

My outlook and programs seem to freeze as soon as they are opened, or they are extremely slow.I have Windows XP and use a lot of Adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator as well as InDesign.

Delete all temp files (c:\windows\temp\*.tmp, or on XP C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp)
Delete temporary internet files (c:\windows\temporary internet files\*.*, or on XP C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files) If you use I.E., click on Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files, select "delete all off-line content", click OK
Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Systems Tools, Disk Cleanup
turn off programs that start automatically in msconfig, then turn them on one at a time after a reboot. Run you system awhile to test. with some patience you will discover what causes your problem.

My D: drive is 99% full how do I free up disk space ?

Music, video and pictures use the most hard drive space. Store them on a disc or on line storage site. After the delete or removing as advised, defrag you hard drive. This should free up space. Get rid of any programs you don't use. As long as you don't delete hidden files you should be fine. Hope this helps. If you are using windows XP go to start, control panel add and remove programs and delete only the programs that you installed and remove only them.
