We have this 4 year old TV and changed the buld at least 3 times this 3 months. The person we got the bulbs from said that either the TV is "eating" the bulbs or that he had a bad shipment........so we changed the place we got the bulb from and this time it worked for 3 weeks and today it will not start again. The light turns green then immediately turns red.
Why is it doing this any idea???
This set has many reasons for the lamp not to light,,it also has some help for us to try to diagnose the problem,,when you turn on the set and the green lite blinks for a bit,,then the green lite goes out and the red light will start to blink,,please count the blink pattern,,and let us know what it is..probably something like 5 blinks the repeats,,or 4 blinks then repeats..let us know the number of blinks
Hi! sweet123,
Please answer this question. Were the 4 bulbs visabley bad; say broken or did they have a milkey look, or broken wire inside? In other words did the bulbs you replaced look as good as a new unused bulb? Please reply.

the bulbs looked great.........no problem with them...atleast i can say so with guarantee for this last bulb that just went bust after 3 weeks.......
I purchased a KDSR50XBR1 in Dec '05. Since that time 3 bulbs have blown, in Oct '06, Aug '07 and Nov '07. The first replacement bulb was provided by Sony (under warranty) and I installed it. The second was provided by Best Buy and installed by their service tech (extended maintenance plan) and the third will be handled through Best Buy. It seems the TV "eats" bulbs and I am very disappointed in the performance of this TV.
