The electric door lock might very well be defective. Or, commonly, a part of the mechanism has broken internally and jammed the movement. I've also seen that the electromagnetic coil develops a short and won't hold. Also, check the *strike* which is the corresponding part mounted on the door. If it is broken, the lock can't latch it properly--this can happen if the door has been leaned on and is out of alignment--all it takes is one good slam, off center, and the strike can break or be bent. Also, if off center, the strike can slam into the wrong area of the catch, damaging the moving parts in the lock. The strike is easy to replace--the lock mechanism, however, ISN'T! If the lock mech is damaged, I urge you to call for service!

lock assembly is bad and should be replaced, you can try to move it but that
won't help and will have to be replaced to solve this issue. Hope this
