TC-P65ST60 - How to remove vertical black bar from top to bottom?

There is a vertical black bar exactly 1/15th (or about 97mm) the width of the whole screen that runs down the left side of the screen directly along the left side bezel. Is it a particular board or a faulty panel? Just to add some extra info while waiting for pic to be attached by fixit staff... Audio works perfectly fine. Vertical black bar is present on all inputs and digital TV. I have disconnected and reconnected every cable as well as leaving TV unplugged completely for at least 24 hours. Problem occurred 17 months after purchase and 6 months ago in February or March (the end of our Australian summer) but indoors does not get hot (maybe 30 degrees centigrade at most) and no direct sunlight. I pretty much live in constant air conditioning at 23 degrees year round. TV has always turned on without an issue when required. Problem occurred outside of warranty period. The whole remainder of picture is perfectly fine. The TV set has never been moved off the TV unit cabinet since initially been plugged in when bought brand new. Remote signal and all functions work. Side buttons on TV all work. All inputs work.

This line would either indicate a horizontal problem cropping up or a power supply problem

I would suggest getting a service tech to look at it to determine where your problem is coming from but most likely it will be the power supply /deflection board that is the problem but I can't know for sure, it will have to be checked.

A lot of sets have had damages after a long hot summer a/c flipping off and on and current demand being peeked from the utilities storms or quick power loss off and on can cause problems like this to occur

This TV has a very expensive panel... we are talking $3000 core charge alone! It comes complete with all the lower buffer boards (which from the sound of it, you are having a problem with). Individual boards for this defect are not available on repair parts list I know of. A panel is what you need, PN: 9-885-063-33

Thanks for using FixYa. As Plasma TV is a very hard working device so it produces lots of heat and around 75% issues in Plasmas are caused due to overheating. To start with you'll have to open the back of the unit and check for any bulged/bad capacitors on Y and Z-sus boards. As the sound is working fine so it seems that the power supply is fine, also check the control board for any bulged capacitors. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Panasonic TC-P65VT25 has a black vertical line half way down screen.

Sounds like you've had a failure of a part in the electronics. Plasma TVs use pretty high voltages (like the old picture-tube models) and parts can get fried over time. You'll need to have your Panasonic serviced by a qualified technician. Don't try to do it yourself -- high voltages, remember?

That is a some what a perfect question, the brand has been given and the motherboard modal number has also been given, so finding the drivers will be a peace of cake !

First of all, always go to the makers brand website, in this case we would go to Gigabyte's official website located here

Next, go to support & downloads;
Then copy and paste the motherboard modal number ( in this case is 8vm533m-rz )
From there we can get the drivers, located : HERE
locate the bios update: HERE
and that crucial mobo manual we all seem to lose: HERE

And that's the very basics, the same method would be used for every motherboard. Mostly all manufactures are happy to provide the drivers and support software on there websites.

When I play dvds or watch videos on youtube the screen has a black border on both sides reducing the size of the screen

If you hit full screen on the youtube video and its not full screen, then it sounds like your monitor resolution is to low.

Rt click on a place on your screen and pick screen resolution, then pick resolution and increase it.

The first number is width, so say it's on 800x600 then go 1024x768

To see the Total Call Time or the life timer counter, On the standby screen type the following code *#92702689# (Easy way to remember this is ? *#war0anty#). And it will pop up a message that shows the life timer in hours and minutes.

Here is a detailed procedure to make this life timer zero.

REQUIREMENTS:
The following files are required to reset the life timer:

Nemesis service suite link: Download from Here
lifetimer.pm file: Download Here

PROCEDURE:
1. Download and Extract the lifetimer.pm file, and Download Nemesis Service Suite.

2. Install Nemesis Service Suite on your Computer, It won?t take much time.(select the first option)

3. Install Nokia Cable Drivers (No need to install, if you have Nokia PC Suite already installed)

4. Connect The Phone in ?PC Suite? Mode to the PC

5. Open Nemesis Service Software

6. Click on ?Scan for new Device? Button on Top right Corner

Intermittant vertical black bars on 42HP84

there is a good chance that I can solve your problem, although for me and others this problem usually shows itself as black bars that go from top to bottom, not just half way. go to the following link and read the entire thread, it is very good info. I have done this and it worked perfectly on a gateway plasma, but it also works on numerous others. there is a guy on ebay that sells a fix for $80, and it appears to be exactly what i did.
