How do you make a freezer frost free?

How do you add the frost free feature to a freezer that is not frost free? I tried lining the inside with tape. I tried putting a fan in the freezer and let it run 24-hrs/day but the frost kept building up.

Frost free means that the evaporator coil will not accumulate a thick layer of frost. It will not prevent frost from accumulating on the walls of the freezer. To slow down the amount of frost build up inside the freezer, do not keep the freezer door open for any longer than necessary. The freezer door seal may be defective. This would allow moisture in that would freeze on the inside walls. A heater with timed intervals to come on is one way for a frost free feature. But this will not work for frost build up on the inside walls of the freezer. It would only melt the frost and then it would refreeze again.

Our Frigidaire frost frost free upright freezer from day one has frost build up on the food inside the packages. The frost is not a problem in the freezer itself, but on the food. Freezer burn occur

Hi Dale Dibb, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that the food inside of your Frigidaire freezer is getting frost on the inside of the packages. I would recommend turning the temperature up inside of your freezer. Additionally moisture inside of the package would cause frost to develop on the inside of the food packages.

Please assure that all possible moisture has been removed out of the food packages prior to placing the items inside of the freezer. If there is anything else that I can help you with, please feel free to reconnect! -Matt

My up right freezer in frosing at top inside part of the unit.

Frosting on evaporator coil should be evenly distributed all over the coil. If the frosting only appears up on the top around where the refrigeration line enters then the gas pressure is too low - if you add refrigerant the frosting will move down to cover the bottom coils also.

The temp alarm keeps sounding,I turn it off and in about 12 hrs it alarms again. The food is frozen and inside still cold

It sounds like the sensor has gone bad. You can either replace it or disable it. Of course if you disable it, obviously you lose that feature. If you want to replace it, you can get the part at kenmore.com or possible W.W. Grainger or APCO.

Side of frost free freezer is very hot

the condenser coils of the freezer anre inside the case of the freezer, they are suposed to be hot they are removing the latent heat from inside the freezer to make it cold, no heat transfer no cooling, you will notice the high heat temps a lot of the time after adding food to the freezer or when you just have started it after being turned off for some reason it is fine
