    Check the Serial Number. You can find this sixteen digit code in the box your Kindle came in or when you click on Settings and go to Device Info. Find your specific generation or type based on the first four characters.

is your computer connected to the internet with a wireless connection, or with a cable? Is the internet connection you see on the kindle, the name of your wireless router? Did you setup the wireless connection on your kindle, using your connection name (the name you gave in on the wireless router you own) and password.
If you answered one or more of these questions with a no, first solve or change that. When you don't have the answer, because you don't know, you have to asume it is a no.
please tell us you did setup the wireless connection correct, so I can look to other possibilities.

Hello.

Reset your Kindle.

There's a little hole inside the battery cover area. Put in a pin or paperclip end and press. The Kindle should unlock.
