My canon sx170is won't turn on - Canon Cameras

Question edited for clarity, changed 'want' to 'won't'. You want an answer because the printer won't turn on.

Check all wires and connections. If u confirm power reaching the innards of unit then there is an issue with the power supply of printer.

You hardly can put in the wrong memory card, because it can handle SD, SDHC and SDXC cards. The only thing I can think of, is you did protect a picture on the card, or the lock "switch" on the card is down. It is the switch on the left side of the picture. It should be up. If not you can't write to it or format it.

If you really would like to format it, please try it in an external memory card reader connected to your computer.

Last time I pointed out someone to look to the lock switch, she was so convinced it could not be that, I had to answer 5 times and try to find other causes. After my fifth answer the apologise came, because the switch was down.

You could try to format the card in your PC (format FAT32) and then try to format it in the camera again. It could be that the filing system had been corrupted and the PC format will remove the damaged file and by formatting the card in the camera the filling structure will be reinstated on the card. Hope this will help!

I would take it back to where you bought it, it should still be under warranty. Sounds like a bad rear image sensor. If your really handy with tools, you can find how to repair it on youtube. But I would take it back to the seller. Now if you bought it used, I would try United Camera. I have used United Camera before and found them to be really good.

Check for corosion from old batteries? New battery good? Model of camera?
