It's very likely a bad engine belt, or possibly your starter is going bad. Try putting a small amount of grease on the inside of the engine belt and see if the problem goes away after 1 or 2 starts. If it does go away (this is a very temporary "fix") you very likely need to replace the belt.
My 1991 Grand Caravan did that too. It had the 3.3L engine just the the T&C (91-93). The tensioner was the problem, hit a puddle on the right side and you'd feel the power steering go and then right away the engine would start to heat up. I tried making the belt come off, but could never duplicate it, only splashing through puddles of rain or wet slush would do it. I never found a tensioner with shoulders on it, but a new one like the original fixed it.
what's the brand name and model number,if it's a kenmore or whirlpool and says even heat with the lint filter inside most likely a bad even heat computer board or the motor relay both are up in the top console,if it's a g.e. you have a broken belt switch, there's a switch down next to the motor and belt pulley,it's just a cherry switch,it has a button that sticks out of the switch that hits the belt pulley,if the belt breaks then the dryer will only run when the start button is pushed in but the switch can break causing the same problem, also on the newer whirlpool it also can be a broken belt, good luck with your dryer http://fixitnow.com/wp/2009/03/17/easy-fixes-for-two-common-problems-with-the-whirlpool-even-heat-dryers/
do you mean that if you hold in the start button it will run but when you let it go it stops,if so you have a bad belt pulley switch.it's a safety so if the belt breaks the dryer won't run,all it is is a cherry switch,a black switch with a white button sticking out of it,the belt pulley hits it and pushes the button in but the switch fails internally or the belt is broke,if the belt isn't broke replace the belt pulley switch.
Sounds like you could possibly have a bad drive motor or something is wedged into the walk belt somewhere keeping it from turning. Check this out. One more question. How long does the walk belt turn for, seconds, before it stops. Is it like 3 to 5 seconds or less than that.
go to the normal time setting, where nothing is flashing. then press and hold reset. then the time you want the alarm on shows up. in order to turn the alarm off press start...press start again to turn it on
