Model lg42ln5700-uh. Why does it turn on, displays the LG logo, then turns off?

  • NoName Jack Sep 22, 2015

Sorry.... It was a lazy answer... at the end of a long day.

Your TV attempts to turn on, finds a problem, then turns off!
This is because the TV has a smart electronic power supply that can sense certain problems.
Like overheating or it senses excess current draw from other circuits.
Everything is fine until about the time the logo appears then shuts itself down.

    First:
Check that the tv is getting ventilation.
No blocked air holes, as they use convection to cool the insides. Hot air out top, cool air in bottom.
Take a photo on your iPhone of the rear connections.
Remove all connections from rear in case they are adding to the problem.
Tap or slap the back a few times on startup to see if movement plays any part in the fault. Loose Connectors.

A modern tv works very much like a desktop computer.
No internal nobs or adjustments any more.
It's all CPU, Memory, Video memory on a circuit board.

If you feel comfortable with opening it up and checking inside then you might see the problem and be able to fix or replace a faulty module.
But... if the tv has just one large circuit board, thats little tougher to replace (& expensive)

    Second:
With the back removed, check for loose connectors / wires, dust. Cockroach residue or nests, cause copper track shorts on circuit boards.
Follow the AC power lead to where it attaches to the electronics.
This will be the switch mode power supply.
This is where most modern electronics devices get their problems.
Look at the Electrolytic Capacitors on this board. The small round tin cans with an x on top.
Do any of them have a bulge in the top?
If so, the cap is probably Bad & needs replacing,
They also sometimes leak brown fluid from their bottom onto the printed circuit board.
You would either replace or repair this electronic module.
    Turn Power On.... all working

    Good Luck

How come my LG Env3 only displays the Verizon logo?

There are a few possible reasons why your LG Env3 is only displaying the Verizon logo:
  1. The phone is stuck in a boot loop: This can happen if the phone's software becomes corrupt, causing the phone to continuously reboot and display the Verizon logo.
  2. The phone is stuck in a firmware update: If the phone was in the middle of a firmware update and the update failed, it may be stuck in a loop and only display the Verizon logo.
  3. The phone has a hardware issue: If the phone's hardware has become damaged or malfunctioning, it may only be able to display the Verizon logo.
  4. The phone is locked: If the phone is locked with a passcode or pattern and you've tried to enter it multiple times, it may display the Verizon logo.
If you're unable to fix the problem by yourself, the best solution would be to contact the manufacturer or the carrier to get the phone checked.
It is also possible that the phone was previously owned by someone else, it may be locked to a carrier and the only option is to contact the carrier and ask for assistance

Will LED power supply fix my black screen on TV?

Chances are you have bad lamps in the panel...you will need to take the front cover off and get under the panel and test them and see if some are bad, if they are replace the strip...good luck as its not all that easy to get the panel off and back on without damaging it, use extreme care handling it or once you get the lamps working the panel can be damaged and then it has to be recycled as it can't be fixed

My LG model 47LN5700-uh TV turns on, flashes the LG logo and then powers off, what should I check to see if it is defective?

Your Main PCB is faulty. LG is version specific. There are additional letters after the "UA" in the model number located below were you found that one. The complete model number is also located on a small rectangular sticker near the edge of the TV on the back. Use the entire number when searching online for a replacement.
