Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
This symptom is caused by a water inlet valve that is bypassing water when it is supposed to be shut off. The inlet water valve is not repairable and must be replaced when this symptom occurs. There can be yet other problems with he ice-maker itself, but changing the water inlet valve will correct this about 95 % of the time. Changing the inlet water valve is the first step in troubleshooting. Should you call for in home service; the tech will change the inlet water valve before doing any other troubleshooting and will most likely have to return after 24 hours to continue ice-maker troubleshooting.
If you need help locating a replacement inlet water valve I will need your complete model number.
shut the house water valve off, take off the cold water line on the back of the washer and stick it in the tub of the washer, have someone hold the hose and turn on the cold water valve,if water comes out then you need to change out the water valve on the washer,if no water comes out then you have a problem with the house water valve.there are screens in the valves see if you canpop out the screen and clean it out and put it back into the valve, you can try that but sediment could have went through the screen and damaged the valve,if so change it out.next time send the model number and i can give you part numbers, let me know what you find
If the water runs at any time the power is off to the machine, you need to change the inlet valve. It depends on the model on how hard it is to change. The water level switch has no adjustment on it. it would need changed if it is acting up. Get me a model # and I can get you instructions on changing valve.
Have you checked your water valve? I dont have your model number but you could have what you call a double water valve and one side of it may be out, alternately you may need to change your water filter if you havent done that yet. I have seen were the water stops dispensing first and then stops making ice. have you changed the filter lately? If not change it then if that doesnt work check water inlet valve...
hmmm well it is simple as needing a new water valve, the lines replaced or you have a water pedal switch bad... recommend you putting voltage to the water valve to the water dispensor only and see what u get .. if no water change that if water but not coming to the door change the tubing if both checks ok then you need to change the switch or board whatever your model calls for.
In the water supply line to the refrigerator is normally a saddle type valve where the water supply is connected to your house water line. Trace it back and shut the valve off fully then turn it back on. When some work is done to any part of your household water system sediment may have lodged in the saddle valve causing a restriction. Closing the saddle valve and reopening it may dislodge the restriction.
What brand and model do you have, most domestic units have a combination hot/cold valve? You just need a meter too verify the valve is closing, if the valve solenoid is closing you may be having a water pressure issue, too much water pressure can cause leaks.
