SOURCE: Dynex dx-l40-10a flat-screen hdtv turns on and the

It's a backlight or backlight inverter issue. (The backlight itself usually fades or makes the on-screen image change to pink/red.) For an out-of-warranty TV, open up the back of the TV and remove the shielding. Look for any scorch marks or bulging or damaged capacitors. (Sometimes other parts will fail on this part but these can be spotted easily. Capacitors look like cylinders on a tripod.)

If you borrow (or have a) high-end multimeter (able to measure high frequencies - 50 kHz) or an oscilloscope, hold the multimeter probes a fraction of an inch apart about an inch above the board and power up the TV. If you see a 1 or an actual value, you have a good inverter. If you see a reading near 0, the board is bad or the multimeter can't resolve the frequency.

In either case, you can buy a replacement inverter for $50-150 and just do a simple swap. Disconnect all of the wires (connections are similar to molex and ribbon cables in a computer) and remove board (a few screws usually). Connect the cables to the new inverter. (If you google backlight inverter replacement, you'll find videos and text descriptions.) Note the part number on the board, including the Rev number, and order the exact one (shopjimmy.com or lcdparts.net are good starting points). Universal inverters do exist but can result in reversed controls (up to lower the brightness). Replacing individual parts on the board is cheaper but more prone to not tracking down all of the bad parts.

If the inverter is good, then it's probably backlights themselves (several in most TVs). These are sandwiched on the perimeter of the TV (usually under some tape that holds the lamp, reflector and other parts together. You need to order by length and width and get ones for your TV size. Remove the tape, and separate the reflector (make a note of how things are put together) then you have to Dremel (or use another rotary tool) to remove the plastic to get the backlight out. (They are often molded into the frame.) Then put in the new backlight and reassemble everything. (http://www.lcdparts.net/howto/default.aspx) but for an overview: http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/BacklightFix/overview.aspx

With a good spare backlight, you can test an inverter for condition (plug together and turn on the tv while the box is open). Similarly a good inverter can test the backlight. With a bad backlight, you'll usually see a very dim image if you look at the TV from an inch from the screen. Block the room light from overwhelming this image (sometimes a carefully positioned flashlight will help you see something). If the inverter or video board is bad, you will see nothing

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: DX-LCD32-09 Power light comes on, screen says

Hi, I have always maintained in my advice that UNLESS the fault is confirmed by testing or if possible maybe with a borrowed board , ONE MUST NEVER INVEST IN BUYING BOARDS as finally the cost of such replacements can be as high as the cost of a new model.
Now that you have confirmed after spending for the boards , the fault seems relative to a short and it can be a drain from the main power supply which incidently trips the supply. so a good way to go about is to check the drain, ISOLATE the inverter circuit , check if there are drivers heating when the power is switched and it can be an indicator. However I will not advice you to buy a new board unless you can take a voltage test on the inverter to see if there is ouput or if the circuit consumes a high drain. Try to get a board to swap and test or remove your board and test with a working set--- ONLY WITH PRECAUTION NOT TO FAIL THE WORKING SET.

WELL FOLKS I just FINALLY found what I have been searching for, I own a Sharp LC 32SH12U LCD TV that has begun to show problems with it's picture, Now it's sound is great no change..But it has gotten to the point that when i first turn it on all I get are three or four bright WHITE lines on the right side of the screen. They are a bout one third from the very corner of the screen. After it warms up for a while, MOST of the time it will just pop up and go to working just fine, that is what was giving it away to me that it HAD to be a something generally easy to fix, And in all of my searching I FINALLY found what I was looking for..Rite here on FixYA.com...There it was right thre in PLAIN ENGLISH..(( The T-CON BOARD )) Timing Control or LCD Controller..Board. on teh LCD panel Assembly, It transfers the image signal of the TTL and LVDS signal to specific TFT but What you all really NEED TO KNOW is JUST what is going on with your TV set when the T-CON Board is going bad, And I am about to tell you....So her ya go.. If you TV has any of these symptoms Well then I can pretty much say that your T-CON Board is bad or going bad...OK..If you have A Scrambled Picture,LINES,multiple Pictures Color smears, blotches, Rolling Pictures after warm up, Blown Surface mounted Fuse No Picture, Very Dark Screen almost like there is no backlight....Folks if your SHARP LCD TV is doing ANY of thsi then you just may need to replace your T-CON BOARD!!!! Hey it beats buying a new TV RIGHT!!!! GOOD LUCK FOLKS!!!!! I have already bought my replacement T-CON Board, as soon as I get it and install it I will let everyone know how it went!! PLEASE CROSS YOUR FINGER"S AND PRAY THAT THIS WORKS FOR US!!!! Thanks Wade in Eastman Georgia...

My screen will not turn on even tho there is power?

Just repaired this TV today. You will need to purchase the inverter board. The TV will power up....you will see "PLEASES WAIT", and disappear, you have a black screen. When you remove the back cover, look to your left. You will see a long vertical board. That is the board you will replace. Seek shop jimmy, enter model number of your TV. You will see an inverter board for $24.95 plus $9.50 shipping. Thanks for asking me, Matt of Martins TV Repair.

Dynex dx-40l150a11 tv turns on and says "Please Wait" after that goes blank with no sound or video. Changed main board and power board already.

Sounds like a software corruption. Just check it by updating its software [firmware]. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

Enter your TV model number. You will find an inverter board for $24.95 plus $9.50 shipping. When you remove the back cover of the TV, look to the left. You will see a long vertical board...this is what you will replace. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV Repair.

Dynnex lcd37 tv display problem ?

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.
