I have a JVC VHS-C gr-axm710u that takes digital still photos, I can't get the pictures to download using their Picture Navigator, when I select Camera ready to download I get a connect error and that is all. I have the cable connected directly to on my Windows NT computer.

Just look at the cam as an external HD. Then you can browse with Explorer, find the pics and copy/paste to the NT machine. After the paste, delete from camera. Don't cut/paste and possibly lose all.

Need to know what Cassette for this model jvc gr-sxm245

You can use VHS-C (C for compact) or S-VHS-C cassettes. The S-VHS-C is Super-VHS, for better quality recordings, but there isn't that much in it compared to digital. I'm assuming your camera has the S-VHS capability, as the title, otherwise stick to VHS-C.

Down loading pictures from JVG GR DVL505U

Have you tried downloading the JVC 'Picture Navigator Updater' for Windows 2000? Even though you're using XP I believe I downloaded and installed it on mine years ago to get the pictures off my GR-DVL505 when XP first came out.
