How do I fix a lawnmower that stops immediately after starting

There is either a fault with the push start switch, the starter relay or starter solenoid. Take it in for service, or you local dealer will probably collect and return it.

Sounds like dirt in the carb. If there is a fuel cup on the bottom of carb take it off and clean it good. Take the fuel jet out and clean the little hole Blow it with air compressor or a fine wire through it.

Typically a primer is only used on 2 cycle engines not on lawnmower engines, so it would not have a primer bulb.

Make sure the fuel filler cap breather hole is clear if its blocked it will create a vacuum in the tank which prevents the fuel flowing forward. also check out the kinks below

It should be. The fuel line is under the tank and runs to the carburetor. Make sure you use the fuel shut off, if you have one, or drain gas before you play with the line. Once you find the line disconnect it from the carb and drain any remaining fuel. Then clean with a pipe cleaner and reattach. That should help.

could be the priming bulb gasket between the air-filter assy. and the carb.
I have the same lawnmower and if I prime with gas from a can it will start but stop after a few seconds. When I push the bulb I can hear air leaking in this area. You can replace the gasket by removing the back half of the air-filter assembly. I am looking to buy a gasket today I let you know how it works out! Thanks Ron

the spider gears are in on the wrong side more less like you put the rear end in backwards

Removed all the debris that had wound around the front wheels and it works again. Thanks for the help.

My son just bought a new Toro self propelled 22" recycler and has had problems on two different occasions. The mower just bogs down to a stop and when he tried to pull the starter cord, it was very VERY difficult to pull. At first I thought the engine had seized up for some reason (no oil?), but we found the problem.

First, disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (to avoid the engine starting); tip the mower on its side and check very carefully the pulley and transmission belt. In his case, a piece of wood had gotten stuck between the belt and the pulley. Removing it fixed the problem (now he mows a little higher so as not to get so close to any debris). (We did have one further problem after that - the engine would not start - not even fire. After pulling and pulling, checking for gas, and checking that the air filter was cleean, we decided to check if the cylinder was flooded - we removed the spark plug, wiped and dried if off, and replaced it. It started right away.)

This belt 'n pulley arrangement isn't the best idea, if you ask me.
