Deactivating & Deleting Accounts

Deactivating Accounts

What's the difference between deactivating and deleting my account?
How do I deactivate my account?
You can deactivate your account temporarily and choose to come back whenever you want.
To deactivate your account:
  1. Click the account menu at the top right of any Facebook page
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Security in the left column
  4. Choose Deactivate your account then follow the steps to confirm
If you deactivate your account your profile won't be visible to other people on Facebook and people won't be able to search for you, though some information, such as messages you sent to friends, may still be visible to others.
If you'd like to come back to Facebook anytime after you've deactivated your account, you canreactivate your account by logging in with your email and password. Your profile will be restored in its entirety (ex: friends, photos and interests). Remember that you will need to have access to the login email address for your account in order to reactivate it.
If you can't get into your account, you can reset your password.
To permanently delete your account:
Permanently deleting your account means you will not ever be able to reactivate or retrieve any of the content or information you've added. If you would like to permanently delete your account with no option for recovery, please contact us.

SOURCE: HOW TO DELETE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

Under my account settings there is an option to deactivate the account. Other than manually deleting every profile wall post, videos, etc., this is about all you can do.

SOURCE: cant delete account

If it's signed in on your phone, then type in the following address in the browser's address bar of your phone https://ssl.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account, once it's opened, select "Submit" and confirm if you get any alert message. Your account will be permanently deleted.

Notice that once done is done, you will not be able to recover it, never will be.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: I lost a facebook reset code.

Good morning to you and Facebook.
Try again with Facebook snd ask them to send you a new password since your attempts until now have failed. If they keep being stubborn and refuse to give the passord, then you can open a new account.
But tell therm how important it is thatyou get into your excisting account.
Good luck

Hi I need to delete my facebook iam going out of the country for 3 months

I tried myself a few years ago to delete my FB account and after trying a lot of ways to cancel it, even contact them to close it - no success!
So, I just ignore it and never used it again. Years after I decided to go back on FB, and there it was - but forgot my password. After a hazzle to got my old password, I opened a new FB account. So, the old one still exists.
I do not know if FB really close any accounts of people asking them, and that makes me wonder what about people that passed away that was on FB? Will their accounts be there forever?

How do I re register with facebok and get rid of my old account

Deleting an old account, you can find every thing on the support or help page from Facebook. The don't want you to delete the page, and try to lt you put the page to "rest" but then they still can use content in the years to come. To delete you have to explicit go to some pages and the last thing they want you is not to access the page within 14 days. When you only once login to the page, it will be active again and you have to do the procedure again.
I mannaged to delete an old page, I did not use for years, after I fond old pictures from me on th net again.
After you did delete your old account, login (best to a computer you never had your old account running) to the same help page and then click the green square make new account. Give new details and chose a new name. The old name will not yet be available, because ti will take more than 14 days before Facebook will release that name again. Facebook Help Center Facebook

Getting my old account back and delete the one i have now i can't use it cause all my friends are on the other one

Facebook does not provide a way to merge two accounts:
Help Center

You can login to your current account and delete it.
Help Center

Then login to your old account. I presume you may have changed your email address since then or forgotten your password. You just need to recover your account if you have forgotten these details. On the login page, select "Forgotten your password?":

Hello , I use to have a Facebook account about 2

Hello, if your facebook account was deactivated more than 30 days ago than facebook has likely permanently deleted it. Facebook regularly goes through deactivated Facebooks and deletes and account that has been deactivated longer than 30-90 days. Try visiting https://www.facebook.com/login/identify?ctx=reason and enter your email, if nothing shows up than unfortunately your account is gone forever.

How do I permanently delete my 13 year old daughter's facebook account if she doesn't want to give me her password?

Without the password you cannot deactivate the account, only possible solution is to report her and choosing the reason why reporting. Reporting should only be used as a last resort and if they are posting harassing/derogative/etc images/messages/etc

You cannot delete the account if you can't logon to the profile. You have to logon go to my account and deactivate the account. Since you can not login, sending a mail to the support team may be your best bet. Have you tried to use the recover password to see if you can recover you password for the account?
