A couple of possibilities, either the main fuse has blown, they are normally an auto motive design and located undrt the the hood of the machine, or the start solinoid has burnt out.
try tapping the starter lightly with a small hammer to rule out a stuck armature. Also make sure all of your connections are tight. Please explain how you "jumped" it. was it with another battery?
Mine took a Poo this evening. It's a 717A Z turn and it's run just fine for 4 years but tonight it kinda Popped (like something broke) while under a slight load and then shut off. Oil level was slightly low and curious if I blew the engine. It still cranks just fine but won't fire off? Acts like it's not getting fuel but the filters are all clear and fuel flows. It's my Church's mower and the Blue hairs are gonna kill me if I blew the engine.............I'm toast!
There was a time when my JD just quit and did nothing. After doubting the battery that is what it was-the battery. Jump start your JD and if it starts up then your battery needs replaced.
make sure battery has correct Cold Cranking Amps -- 275 or more is probably better. May also have to replace starter.
I had the same symptoms, and it turned out the battery's cold cranking amps were to low, and I burned out the starter cranking it over with such a week battery.
