GE TFX20SA back wall of freezer freezing (snow like more than ice) we took the fridge apart about a month ago and blew out and let everything behind the back panel melt as it was frozen solid, it then worked fine for about 3 weeks then started freezing on the back freezer wall again, stuff is not staying as cold also. Fridge is about 10 years old. Is there a way to defrost it? Not the most skilled repair person on my own. thanks

CHECK DEFROST TIMER, CHECK HEATING ELEMENTS @ EVAPORATOR. BUT SURE MUST BE THE DEFROST TIMER. TO CHECK TIMER, IF IS MANUAL U CAN USE A SCREW DRVER TO TURN IT, IF IT DOES NOT DEFROST IT`S THE TIMER. NOW IT IF TIMER IS A ELECTRONIC TYPE, THAT CAN`T BE TESTED MANUALLY. REPLACE IT TO PRENET ICEBUILD UP @ EVAPORATOR.

There can be three issues: defrost heater (part WR51X10101), defrost thermostat (part WR50X0122) or control unit (part WR09X0122).
Check the heater first, use the tester, it shoud measure '0' (resistance 26 Ohm - it was 'infinity' in my case, i.e. it it was the culprit). You can buy it from AP Wagner (http://www.apwagner.com/).
If that happens again, replace control unit, then try thermostat.

hope it helps.

Why are my fridge and freezer to warm?

Sounds to me like your freon is low. That is the gas fridges use to cool things down.
I may be wrong but I would get a repair man to check the freon pressure first.. Low freon is caused by a small leak in one of the lines or in the compressor its self. I had an old fridge and the freon went low just over time.and had to be topped up.

Why are only drawers in fridge cold & not making ice?

Contact a professional. Sounds like either your damper door is not operating correctly and not letting enough cool air from the freezer enter, or there is an air leak that is making ice form .

My ge profile arctica is about 9 years old. It is freezing food in the refrigerator, temp control is set at a 4 and the thermometer inside reads anywhere from 28 -40 in various areas of the fridge. Milk...

first run the diagnostics on the unit from the tech sheet inside the unit, then if thermistors are bad replace these there are 2 one on the left and one on the right wall in both fridge and freezer,if good per diagnostics then replace the electronic damper door located between the fridge and freezer compartments in the upper left hand corner of the fridge behind the plastic grille as these doors break and jamb open or shut and the temps can no longer be regulated during the diagnostics tests you can hear this door operate if its operating correctly, lastly,if these fail to solve your problem, replace the main control board in the back behind a panel

Fridge not staying cool, freezer still freezing

Try defrosting freezer, sometimes when the defrost thermostat fails it causes ice too build up behind the walls of the freezer then it restricts the air flow to the refer side. If it works after defrosting then you probably need to get a new defrost thermostat.
