This seems like a T-con board problem as its responsible for several picture functions including color convergence. Or it could be a bad LVDS cable (inside the TV) I can ship you a new T-caon board for $150.00 or take it too your local shop repair shouldn't cost more than $250.00....

Replaing the lamp will fix this problem most of the time.If not count the blinks. This is an error code.

Call Sony my friend. I have the same exact issue with the same model. They already have a recall for the 46"XBR4. Let Sony know that us 52" owners are having the same issue. I'm essentially calling them everyday until they fix it.

Yeah the fans continue to rotate for at least 2 minutes past shut off time.

Take out all the connections,to the main video backlight board.Check for lose connections,damage connections cables?Reconnect all connections,turn on the tv jiggles the cables connections,see any tint,or flashes,than ur cables wiring must change have internal cables damges,not than ur backlight video board degrading,just not have serious prob.yet.

It turn out to be a $10 diode on the mainboard, which cost me $100 to have troubleshot and repaired

i had prob where my sony would switch off for a few secs thenh come back on . The solution was in menu / tv settings / sleep timer . Go into that and make sure its set to off. there are opions for off , 5 min 20 min 30 min etc... mine was set to nothing just blank.
